(NASDAQ: BKNG), is an industry leader with a passion for helping restaurants thrive. Our world-class technology empowers restaurants to focus on what matters most – their team, their guests, and their bottom line – while enabling diners to discover and book the perfect restaurant for every occasion.

Every employee at OpenTable has a tangible impact on what we do and how we do it. You’ll also be part of a global team and its portfolio of metasearch brands. Hospitality is all about taking care of others, and it defines our culture.

Build and Release Engineering Team

Our team is the beating heart of our organization’s software development lifecycle. We support the tools and systems that enable product engineers to quickly and effortlessly build, release, and deploy the apps and software that diners and restaurants across the world have come to rely on at mealtime.

We support the organization’s CI/CD infrastructure, artifact storage, and a number of custom deployment tools designed to keep everything beyond the code check-in running as smoothly as possible. Some of our tools are hosted on VMs but our primary deployment environment is built on Kubernetes. We maintain a small number of Kubernetes controllers and services, most of which are written in Go, to help organize and keep the platform clean. Our team is made up of SREs who are software and infrastructure engineers at heart. We write code, build servers, and provide support to our users.  We also often work closely with other teams who handle security, networking, datacenter hardware, and virtualization to complete many of our projects. The Role

We are looking for a Site Reliability Engineer with a few years under their belt who can help us deliver a hurdle free experience to our product engineers. We need someone to help us iterate on and evolve our CI/CD platforms, help us adopt a “shift-left” mentality, upgrade existing tools, build new tools, and support hundreds of users of our systems across the organization.

In this role, you will:

  • Be responsible for the organization’s CI/CD infrastructure and artifact storage systems
  • Deploy and maintain specialized tooling and services in our Kubernetes clusters
  • Support other engineering teams with expertise and professionalism
  • Build safer software delivery methods with techniques such as blue-green or canary deployments
  • Maintain and improve the reliability of our internal software
  • Build new features or new tools to help us solve the problems of the evolving organization
  • Improve testing and validation early in the process to prevent production issues down the line
Please apply if:

You are a tinkerer by nature. You are both skilled in writing software and comfortable working on infrastructure.

You should have a deep understanding of the software development lifecycle, having experienced it yourself by working on the product side, and a strong familiarity with all the tools supporting it; e.g.:
  • You've set up delivery pipelines of various shapes and constraints.
  • You have an empathetic approach and enjoy working with developers, designers and product owners and constantly seek to understand their perspective.
  • You’ve worked closely with Security teams and you're familiar with their tools.
  • You're proficient at writing Go code, but you're a polyglot at your core.
  • You enjoy evaluating new technologies.
You should also have experience and comfort working on infrastructure. You may not be an expert at all levels and with all *nix tooling (e.g. bash, powershell, vi, grep, sed, jq, curl), but you are experienced in some of them and comfortable enough to learn and use new tools as needed to get the job done; e.g.:
  • You enjoy building and configuring containers and/or VMs.
  • You have a solid understanding of systems administration concepts.
  • You can dig and investigate into areas that may be new to you to solve problems.
  • You enjoy automating wherever and whenever possible.

Benefits and Perks

  • Generous paid vacation + time off for your birthday
  • Work from (almost) anywhere for up to 20 days per year
  • Focus on mental health and well-being:
    • Company-paid therapy sessions through SpringHealth
    • Company-paid subscription to Headspace
    • Annual company-wide week off a year - the whole team fully recharges (and returns without a pile-up of work!)
  • Paid parental leave
  • Paid volunteer time
  • Focus on your career growth:
    • Development Dollars
    • Leadership development
    • Access to thousands of on-demand e-learnings
  • Travel Discounts
  • Employee Resource Groups
  • 20 days of paid time off
  • Private health and dental insurance
  • Life and Disability insurance

There are a variety of factors that go into determining a salary range, including but not limited to external market benchmark data, geographic location, and years of experience sought/required. The range for this Canada based role is $100,000 -$130,000 CAD.

We offer a competitive base salary and benefits including: health benefits; flexible spending account; retirement benefits; life insurance; paid time off (including PTO, paid sick leave, medical leave, bereavement leave, floating holidays and paid holidays); and parental leave benefits. This role is eligible to be considered for an annual bonus and equity grant.

Work Environment & Flexibility

At OpenTable, we pride ourselves on fostering a global and dynamic work environment. As a team member with us, you will benefit from a schedule tailored to accommodate a global workforce operating across multiple time zones. While the majority of your responsibilities may align with conventional business hours, there will be instances where you are expected to manage communications - via calls, Slack messages, or emails - outside of regular working hours to effectively collaborate with international colleagues, respond to restaurant partners, and/or address urgent matters. OpenTable will always abide by and consider local laws and regulations.

Inclusion

We’re committed to creating a workplace where everyone feels they belong and can thrive. We know the best ideas come when we bring different voices to the table, so we're building a team as dynamic as the diners and restaurants we serve—and fostering a culture where everyone feels welcome to be themselves.

If you need accommodations during the application or interview process, or on the job, we’re here to support you. Please reach out to your recruiter to request any accommodations.
