What’s the role?
The Technical Project Manager will lead and coordinate cross-functional technology projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with business objectives. While this role does not involve hands-on technology work (e.g. development), it requires a strong technical background to understand technical concepts, communicate effectively with technology teams, and help solve issues that could impact delivery.
90%+ of this role will focus on technical project management, with <10% of this role’s time supporting administrative initiatives such as technology town hall preparation and related leadership support tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Management & Delivery
- Lead and manage cross-functional projects across software development, infrastructure, IT, and customer support.
- Understand technical concepts to facilitate discussions with developers, IT, and infrastructure engineers.
- Drive project timelines, milestones, and deliverables using Agile or hybrid project management practices.
- Examples of projects include major cross-functional technology refactoring, M&A integration, managing roadmaps across all Modern Campus products, and tracking technology executive dashboard metrics
- Identify and resolve project risks, blockers, and dependencies to ensure successful and timely delivery.
- Work with stakeholders to define project scope, success criteria, and detailed project plans.
- Prepare and present project updates to senior technology leaders and cross-functional business partners.
- Partner with technical teams to identify solutions for issues that impact delivery timelines.
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation including schedules, action items, risk logs, and presentation decks.
Cross-Functional Leadership & Collaboration
- Coordinate with software development, DevOps/infrastructure, IT, and customer support teams to ensure alignment on project objectives.
- Work closely with senior technology leaders to prioritize projects and resource allocations.
- Facilitate communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure clarity and alignment.
- 5+ years of project management experience in a software or technology-driven environment.
- Strong technical acumen to understand engineering, infrastructure, and IT concepts.
- Experience leading cross-functional technology projects and managing complex dependencies.
- Proven ability to identify project risks, create mitigation plans, and maintain delivery momentum.
- Strong organizational skills with experience in project management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Asana, Smartsheet).
- Experience creating presentation decks to communicate project updates to senior stakeholders and general updates for department-wide meetings.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact confidently with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Preferred qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (and/or certification) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field
- PMP, CSM, or other relevant project management certification
- The base salary range* for this full-time position is between $80,000 - $130,000
