Your Responsibilities
As a Factory Automation Engineer - Industrial Control Systems and Automation (CA) for John Deere in Grovetown, GA, you will:
- Plan, coordinate, and perform intermediate professional controls engineering (e.g., electrical machine controls design; Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) programming; Industrial Robotics programming;
- Electrical and Product Test System design, PC programming) assignments of specific engineering tasks;
- Lead in the development and implementation of small to medium Factory Automation (FA) solutions for Deere;
- Assist other Project Leads in the development and implementation of large and complex solutions;
- Lead complex integration (installation and networking) of Deere shop floor equipment and tooling into Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and PLCs;
- Lead complex MES configuration and testing; provide daily support for urgent production issues, lead root cause analysis and resolution for moderately to highly complex issues;
- Design/update electrical systems and prints for Deere machines or shop floor tooling and equipment;
- Design/update human machine interfaces and (Robot, PLC, or PC) programs for Deere machines or shop floor systems;
- Create reports/dashboards of moderate to high complexity, required to support management of equipment;
- Review Requests for Quote (RFQs) for new or modified Deere equipment and ensure FA standards are followed;
- Develop Bill of Materials (BOMs) for projects and gather quotes from suppliers;
- Generate and maintain user manuals, knowledge videos, and on-screen help links for FA Solutions.
- 20% international and domestic travel required.
What Skills You Need
- 3 years of experience in leverage Python for data analysis to extract actionable insights from factory automation data to drive informed decisions that enhance business productivity and efficiency in production operations
- 3 years of experience in programming PLCs using Rockwell Studio 5000, emphasizing the ability to establish machine connectivity and troubleshoot communication issues for streamlined automation processes
- 3 years of experience with Ignition SCADA and SQL design to develop and maintain efficient supervisory control and data acquisition systems for factory automation
- 3 years of experience in develop custom applications for factory automation using Microsoft Power Apps to create user-friendly solutions that enhance operational efficiency
Education/Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mechatronics or related field plus 3 years related experience.
