Overview

The Account Manager will demonstrate and sell Bio-Rad's diverse and extensive line of consumables and capital equipment to life science research laboratories at academic, government and biotech accounts. Work with existing accounts as well as prospects for new customers, qualifying leads, and pre and post sales customer training to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction. Product lines include: Droplet Digital PCR (ddPCR), gene expression and genomics assays, and DNA amplification; Western Blotting, protein/nucleic acid electrophoresis, antibodies and bioanalytical reagents, and flow cytometry instruments and reagents; chromatography and process purification systems; and other life science research products. The position includes accounts in the province of British Columbia. Must be able to work in a team environment and travel overnight. Must have a valid passport and be able to travel by motor vehicle and air throughout the territory and to the United States for annual sales meetings and product training.

How You’ll Make An Impact: 


  • Achieve/exceed sales, marketing, and financial objectives for relevant products by regularly calling on all current and prospective customers, with 80% of the time expected to be spent in the field.
  • Analyze the territory to create a quarterly financial and activity-based business plan consisting of accounts and major product goals. Create specific plans for growing sales and profitability through in-person site visits, vendor shows, referrals, conferences, and live product demos/training.
  • Ensure high customer satisfaction by coordinating between customers and relevant departments within Bio-Rad, leveraging internal resources, creating cross-selling opportunities, and communicating competitive information to the sales and management team, both pre- and post-sale.
  • Manage the territory using Salesforce.com, Microsoft Office Suite, appropriate funnel management, financial analysis, and product sales tracking.
  • Focus on continuous improvement of selling skills, such as Consultative SPIN Selling and Miller Heiman sales strategies, while understanding and creating value for the customer.

What you bring: 


  • Education: Life Science Degree in Cell/Molecular Biology with hands-on life science laboratory research experience; a Graduate Degree is a plus.
  • Work Experience: 5+ years of relevant sales experience in a customer-facing role, preferably in the life science industry, with a demonstrated record of success. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent technical and practical knowledge of technologies used in Life Sciences, with direct knowledge of, or the ability to quickly learn, Bio-Rad products and related competitors in the industry.
  • Proven ability to prepare, implement, and monitor business/marketing plans, and to track and manage multiple ongoing opportunities through a CRM database.
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills, with the ability to sell value, up-sell, quote, and close sales while tracking competitor activity/strategies and reporting them back to the sales and management team.

Compensation: The estimated base salary range for this position is $83,000 to $114,100 at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors.
