Your place in our story
Reporting to the Senior Accounting Manager, the Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the accounting operations and financial reporting for a portfolio of residential, commercial, and mixed-use rental properties. This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of property-level and corporate financial records, compliance with accounting standards, and timely delivery of financial information to management and stakeholders. The Accounting Manager leads a team of accountants while partnering closely with Property Management, Asset Management, Leasing, Operations, and Finance teams.
Here’s how you’ll contribute
Manage the full-cycle accounting process for a portfolio of rental properties.
Collaborate with operational teams to support accurate financial reporting and highlight key opportunities or challenges.
Ensure timely and accurate production of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
Prepare and review working papers, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
Oversee accounting for property acquisitions, dispositions, and development projects.
Review common area maintenance (CAM) recoveries, operating cost recoveries, and property tax recoveries where applicable.
Coordinate and implement special projects such as accounting policy changes and process improvements.
Ensure compliance with IFRS, ASPE, and company policies, as well as tax and regulatory requirements.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Support annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes.
Coordinate annual audits and manage external auditor requests.
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of property accountants and accounting assistants.
What you bring to the team

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Commerce or related field.
CPA designation required or in final stages of completion.
Experience:
8+ years of progressive accounting experience.
3+ years of people management experience.
Real estate, property management, or rental property accounting experience preferred.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting under IFRS/ASPE.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
Advanced knowledge of ERP systems (NewStar or Yardi an asset).
Superb leadership and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Hiring pay range: $100,000-$120,000
