What You’ll Do
The primary responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:
- Build and optimize Android applications and services for in-vehicle infotainment platforms.
- Develop voice-driven features that integrate speech, audio, conversational AI, and agentic workflows.
- Work with Android audio pipelines, media, microphone input, routing, focus, and low-latency audio behavior.
- Integrate and optimize embedded AI/SLM capabilities for on-device or hybrid vehicle experiences.
- Design and implement modern, maintainable app architectures using current Android development best practices.
- Partner with product, UX, platform, systems, and AI teams to deliver intuitive voice experiences in production vehicles.
- Debug complex issues across app, framework, audio, connectivity, and embedded environments.
- Help define technical direction, engineering standards, and scalable patterns for future capabilities.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.(Successful candidates will be required to provide proof of completion for the highest level of education attained. If the diploma/degree was obtained from a school outside of Canada, an Education Credential Assessment report showing Canadian equivalency is also required).
Experience:
- 5+ years' experience in Android development experience with Kotlin and modern Android frameworks.
- 2+ years' experience understanding of the Android audio subsystem, including audio focus, capture, routing, media/session behavior, and troubleshooting.
- Proven experience with modern application development practices: clean architecture, modularization, testing, observability, CI/CD, and performance optimization.
- Understanding of embedded AI, on-device inference, Small Language Models, or edge Machine Learning deployments.

- Proven communication skills and comfort working in cross-functional product and platform teams.
- Ability to work across software layers and debug issues in complex integrated systems.
- Experience building voice applications, conversational interfaces, or speech-enabled products.
- Experience with Android Automotive OS, embedded Android, or infotainment systems.
- Background in wake word, ASR, TTS, dialog systems, or multimodal assistant experiences.
- Experience optimizing models or inference pipelines for constrained hardware environments.
- Familiarity with automotive, real-time, or safety-conscious product development.
- Experience shipping consumer-facing products at scale.
