Harris is currently looking to hire an Assistant Controller to join our corporate Financial Reporting team, with a dedicated focus on revenue recognition. The ideal candidate for this role has their professional accounting designation (or is currently enrolled as a student), hands-on experience applying IFRS 15 to software or technology revenue, a strong analytical mindset, and a passion for continuous learning and improvement.
As Assistant Controller, Revenue, you will be part of the corporate Financial Reporting team that sits above our business unit finance teams and provides technical accounting review across Harris’s portfolio of software businesses. Reporting to the Revenue Accounting Manager, you will play a central role in the review of revenue recognition across a high volume of business units as part of the month, quarter, and year-end close process, ensuring revenue conclusions are well supported, consistent, and compliant with IFRS 15 while working closely with the senior leadership team in each business unit as their “trusted business advisor”
This role is based out of our newly renovated corporate head office in Ottawa, Ontario, although Harris Finance employees are currently working remotely.
WHAT WILL BE YOUR NEW ROLE
Ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and timely completion of monthly financial reporting.
Technical accounting analysis under IFRS.
Reviewing IFRS 15 revenue contract checklists prepared by business unit finance teams, ensuring conclusions are properly supported, consistently applied, and completed on time each quarter
Reviewing multiple-element software arrangements to ensure proper revenue recognition under IFRS 15 guidelines, including regular preparation and/or review of supporting schedules.
Reviewing standalone selling price (SSP) analyses and supporting periodic SSP studies across business units
Reviewing work-in-progress (WIP) schedules and percentage-of-completion revenue calculations for project-based and services revenue
Technical accounting analyses under International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), with an emphasis on IFRS 15
Coordinating and responding to external & internal auditor requests and queries during quarterly reviews and the interim and year-end audit
Supporting process improvements, templates, and training materials that raise the quality of revenue reporting across business units
Leading special ad hoc projects that impact various stakeholders within the organization
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
4+ years of experience in an accounting or finance environment
Completed or working towards a CPA designation
Hands-on experience applying IFRS 15 / revenue recognition, ideally to software or technology arrangements
Strong attention to detail, sound professional judgment, and comfort raising issues and communicating findings to stakeholders

COMPENSATION DETAILS
The potential salary range for this role is $70,000 to $80,000 per year, with eligibility for bonus or merit program. Final compensation will be based on experience, skills, market conditions, and internal equity.
