Harris is seeking an experienced finance professional to join our team in the capacity of Assistant Controller in the Public Sector Group.

 

As the Assistant Controller you will be assisting the Controller with a wide range of finance and accounting functions related to the business operations as well as to our ongoing acquisition activity. In addition to working closely with the senior management team in each Business Unit as their trusted business advisor.

 

What your impact will be

  • Ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and timely completion of monthly financial reporting

  • Review account reconciliations, analyze monthly results, and prepare reporting to senior management on a monthly and quarterly basis

  • Assess and recommend appropriate accounting treatments on complex issues 

  • Review variance analysis (actuals to forecast and prior period) for all business units across Harris

  • Provide ongoing training to Finance team on financial reporting topics

  • Help integrate any new acquisitions into the finance group 

  • Review complex revenue recognition for software contracts which are accounted for under IFRS 15, including regular review of WIP schedules 

  • Prepare audit requests and respond to queries during quarterly reviews and the interim and year-end audit

What we are looking for:

  • 4+ years of experience in an accounting or finance environment 

  • Completed or working towards a CPA designation

  • Experience building and managing relationships with stakeholders

  • Experience with IFRS reporting framework 

  • Experience with project accounting (% complete) and software revenue recognition 

What will make you stand out: 

  • Undergraduate degree in business, finance, or accounting 

  • Certified CPA or designation in progress 

  • People management experience 

  • Public accounting experience

Salary: $70K-$80K
