We are looking for an exceptional employment lawyer to join our growing Employment legal team. The successful candidate will be the second AMER based employment lawyer at MongoDB!

This is a full-time remote or hybrid position that will be based in the U.S. or Ontario, Canada.

 Responsibilities

  • Provide advice and support to our Employee Experience team, HR Business Partners and the business on a broad range of employment issues across AMER (currently Canada, U.S., Mexico, and Brazil) including hiring, terminations, performance management, leaves of absence, investigations, accommodations, reorganisations, and other employment-related matters
  • Collaborate with other lawyers on the team with respect to advice and counselling provided to HR and other cross-functional partners
  • Work on employment related projects, including internal process reviews, new policy roll-outs and implementation, and training programs.
  • Draft and edit employment-related documents, correspondence, agreements, processes and policies
  • Manage legal risks and provide solutions for resolving employment disputes
  • Provide support and strategic advice on employment litigation matters
  • Participate in the creation and delivery of training related to employment law matters
  • Keep up to date with legislative changes and other employment law developments and advise stakeholders on legal changes and developments
  • Build and manage relationships with external counsel

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in U.S. employment law, experience in Canada and/or LATAM is a plus
  • Proven record of success at a top law firm. Prior in-house experience is not a prerequisite
  • Smart, passionate and driven
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Enjoy working hard in a fast-paced environment and overcoming challenges
  • Great leadership and teamwork skills and willingness to take on new responsibilities
  • Experience advancing projects in a multi-stakeholder environment and handling and prioritising multiple projects
