Role Description

As a Dropbox Product Counsel, you’ll have a broad range of responsibilities and will have the opportunity to help counsel our product and privacy program. We're looking for someone to work closely with our product, engineering, and design teams to ensure Dropbox continues to be an industry leader in protecting user data, implementing privacy by design, and using AI and machine learning technology responsibly. You will have immediate impact with your substantive knowledge, analytic rigor, sophisticated judgment, effective interpersonal skills, and ability to get things done. If you love a challenging, team-focused and fast environment, then this is the place for you. This role will be filled at the Associate Counsel or Counsel level, depending on experience.

Responsibilities
  • Counsel on data privacy, AI and machine learning, intellectual property law, consumer protection issues in the digital environment, platform liability, marketing and advertising law, and information policy in a dynamic and evolving environment
  • Advise technical and business development teams on legal risk from the initial stages of product development, through launch, to market strategy
  • Partner closely with key cross-functional teams across Dropbox including Engineering, Product, Design, Privacy, Security, and Marketing
  • Take ownership of important issues and decisions and see them through
Requirements
  • You have experience with and passion for data privacy, AI and machine learning, security, intellectual property law, consumer protection issues in the digital environment, platform liability, marketing and advertising law, and information policy (1-3+ years)
  • You have counseled product development and worked closely with designers, engineers, and product management, either as outside counsel or in-house
  • You possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills adaptable to different audiences
  • You have sound business judgment
  • You've nurtured phenomenal interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively and adapt in a dynamic environment
  • You’re curious and eager to learn about new technologies and legal developments
  • You have a JD, are admitted to a US state bar, and have a distinctive academic record
Preferred Qualifications
  • You've got deep expertise in, and real passion for, technology
  • You’ve previously worked with SaaS, AI, or other online companies, either as outside counsel or in-house
  • You are able to flex to work with people in the Pacific time zone
Compensation
Canada Pay Range
$138,600$187,500 CAD
