About the team
Our Solutions Engineers come from a wide range of backgrounds: Engineering, Software development, Science, Product management, Business, Finance, Customer support & project delivery. We're serious about building a diverse team. When hiring we look for a diverse of background and experience combined with genuine curiosity for our technology.
Solutions Engineers are the technical customer advocates within Cloudflare. To aid our customers, we work closely with every team at Cloudflare, from Sales and Product to Engineering and Customer Support. Our goal of customer success drives us through the entire organization to seek out and create scalable solutions for our customer's needs. This role will be a part of the sales team, and customer facing at all times.
What you'll do: You will join Cloudflare's Solutions Engineering Team as an Associate Solutions Engineer (ASE), starting July 7th in Austin, Texas.
As part of this ASE program, you will gain in-depth technical and functional skills training where you will learn about Cloudflare's solutions, products and underlying technologies, shadowing other technology professionals.
Throughout the program you will complete a series of learning assessments in order to receive guidance and feedback from your manager and colleagues. After successful completion of the program you are expected to transition to one of the Solutions Engineering teams in the region, based on business requirements.
After completing the Program, you will:

  • Act as a trusted advisor to customers, translate business requirements into technical solutions
  • Work closely with Account Executives or Customer Success Managers to cover a territory or range of customers
  • Conduct technical discussions with our customers
  • Design solutions, run demos and webinars
  • Implement proof of concepts or onboard new products to demonstrate value and meet defined success criteria
  • Work with channel partners to position Cloudflare as their preferred vendor


Examples of desirable skills, knowledge, and experience:

  • Bachelor or Masters Graduates of technical and engineering degrees including but not limited to, Computer, Software, Electronics, Communications, Telecommunications, Information Technology Mathematics Engineering and Science degrees, or relevant subjects.
  • Good understanding of how the Internet works. Development and application development knowledge is a major plus.
  • Have intellectual curiosity and strong desire and determination to learn
  • Good communication skills. Ability to present in front of an audience.
  • Demonstrated experience with a scripting language (e.g. Python, JavaScript, Bash, Lua, Go) and a desire to expand those skills.
  • Expertise in internet technologies: OSI Model layers 1-7, BGP, GRE, TCP/UDP, DNS (authoritative and recursive), HTTP(S), SSL / TLS.


Bonus:
Cloud Technologies Certification , Emphasis on Cybersecurity is a plus
Graduating in Fall 2024, or Spring of 2025 candidates only
