The Benefits Analyst will provide group benefits consulting support, including design and financial management for existing medium and large clients and prospects. The Benefits Analyst will work closely with internal consulting teams, interface with vendors, support client deliverables, and ensure quality standards are met.The Benefits Analyst will:
  • Contribute to the overall design and management of group medical, dental, life, disability, and special risk benefits for clients

  • Perform annual renewal analysis and negotiations with carriers; prepare client reports and presentations

  • Complete experience reporting, budget projections, and reviewing plan financial performance

  • Review financial statements for accuracy and adherence to underwriting agreements

  • Gather data and determine cost impact for plan design changes

  • Conduct marketings; including preparing and submitting specifications, analysis, cost comparisons and recommendations on marketing responses, and preparing marketing reports

  • Support the consulting team in preparing documents for client presentations and meetings

  • Participate in industry conferences, seminars, etc. in order to keep abreast of industry trends and activities

  • Build relationships with clients, carriers, and internal, cross-functional teams

To be successful as a Benefits Analyst with Meldrum Horne, you will need:
  • 2 - 5 years of professional experience in group benefits

  • Completion of a bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.

  • Knowledge of Canadian benefits industry and group benefits financial underwriting requirements for all types of employee benefits plans

  • Advanced competency with Microsoft Excel

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy

  • Ability to manage and prioritize competing demands in order to meet client and company needs

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Sensitivity to confidential information 

All-star candidates will have: 
  • Fluency in both English & French

  • Completion of an industry designations: GBA, CEBS, or LLQP

    The base salary range for this position is $70,000 - $85,000 per annum.

    This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, etc). The actual base salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training. If you are selected to move forward in our recruitment process, the Talent Acquisition Specialist will be able to provide additional details of the total compensation for this role.
