The BSS Data Architect will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing the data architecture for the Business Support Systems (BSS). This role involves ensuring that data is structured, integrated, and accessible across various BSS functions, including billing, customer relationship management (CRM), order management, and service assurance. The Data Architect will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the efficiency, scalability, and security of data infrastructure supporting business operations.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement data models, structures, and workflows for BSS applications.
  • Develop and maintain logical and physical data models for telecom systems, ensuring scalability, flexibility, and alignment with business requirements.
  • Establish best practices for data governance, data integration, and data lifecycle management within the BSS environment. 
  • Lead efforts to integrate data across multiple systems, including CRM, billing, order management, inventory, and network management.
  • Design and implement data pipelines, ETL processes, and data transformation logic to facilitate seamless data flow between systems.
  • Ensure data consistency, accuracy, and integrity across the BSS ecosystem.
  • Define data governance frameworks and policies in line with industry standards and regulatory requirements
  • Ensure secure data handling, storage, and transmission practices across the BSS landscape.
  • Establish data quality standards and metrics to monitor data health and compliance.
  • Work closely with other IT architects, business analysts, and product teams to align data architecture with business goals.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data needs and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Provide guidance on data modeling and design best practices for development teams.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for data models, integration processes, and architecture standards.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 9 years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or related roles within the telecommunications industry.
  • Strong experience with Business Support Systems (BSS), including billing systems, CRM, ERP and order management.
  • Proven expertise in designing and implementing data solutions in complex telecom environments.
  • Proficiency in database technologies (e.g., SQL, NoSQL, relational databases like SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL).
  • Strong understanding of data modeling techniques (e.g., ER modeling, dimensional modeling, and normalization).
  • Experience with ETL/ELT processes and data integration tools (e.g., Talend, Informatica, Apache Nifi).
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure) and big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).
  • Knowledge of telecommunications standards and protocols (e.g., TM Forum standards, OSS/BSS frameworks).
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Strong project management and time management abilities.
  • Familiarity with telecom network data and integration is an asset
