About the Role:

The Business Development Executive plays a critical role in driving GHY’s growth by owning the full lifecycle of new business development — from prospecting and deal strategy through close and client onboarding.
This is a high-autonomy, hunter-focused role suited for an experienced sales professional who thrives on building relationships, navigating complex trade environments, and converting opportunity into long-term revenue. You will work independently while partnering closely with internal teams to deliver solutions that create real value for clients.

What You’ll Do:

Own New Business Growth

  • Prospect, pursue, and win new business through targeted outbound sales and business development (“hunting”) activities.
  • Set and achieve ambitious short- and long-term sales goals.

Design and Close Strategic Deals

  • Conduct deep needs assessments to understand client operations, risks, and opportunities.
  • Analyze trade dynamics and prepare competitive, compliant quotes.
  • Lead RFIs, RFPs, and RFQs through to close with clean operational handoffs.

Expand and Deepen Client Relationships

  • Retain and grow existing accounts by identifying expansion opportunities.
  • Recommend product, service, or process enhancements that improve client outcomes and long-term retention.

Represent GHY in the Market

  • Build your professional network through industry events, trade shows, and associations.
  • Develop opportunities using social media, virtual platforms, and professional networks.

Who You Are:

  • A confident, self-directed sales hunter who enjoys opening doors and closing complex deals.
  • Comfortable operating with autonomy, accountability, and minimal supervision.
  • A strategic thinker who can connect client needs to tailored trade and logistics solutions.
  • An effective communicator who can influence stakeholders at multiple levels.
  • A relationship builder who balances persistence with professionalism.
  • Highly organized, disciplined, and motivated by measurable results.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Five (5) or more years of relevant industry experience.
  • Prior experience in international trade, logistics, or customs brokerage preferred.

What Success Looks Like:

  • A healthy, self-generated pipeline of qualified opportunities.
  • Consistent achievement of revenue and growth targets.
  • Strong client relationships that convert into repeat and expanded business.
  • Smooth handoffs to operations that set clients up for long-term success.
  • Recognition as a trusted advisor internally and externally.

Working Conditions: 

  • Work is primarily performed in an office or remote office environment with minimal supervision.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk (approximately 75%).
  • Walking and standing as required (approximately 20%).
  • Occasional interprovincial, international, rural, local, and overnight travel.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours, evenings, or weekends during peak business periods as needed.
