About North Vector Dynamics

North Vector Dynamics is a Canadian defense technology company redefining modern air defense with modular, low-cost, and sovereign IP. Our technologies are designed to close critical capability gaps with solutions that are faster to deploy, more affordable to scale, and engineered for today’s battlespace.

We are seeking a Business Development Lead to help scale our partnerships, shape our pipeline of defense opportunities, and position NVD at the forefront of Canadian and allied defense innovation. You’ll join a fast-moving team where technical ambition and operational impact go hand in hand.

Candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada and eligible for registration under the Controlled Goods Program and a federal security clearance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Pipeline Development

    • Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities across Canadian, U.S., NATO, and allied defense markets.

    • Track relevant RFPs, challenges (IDEaS, DIANA, DIU, etc.), and offset/ITB opportunities with primes.

  • Partnership Building

    • Cultivate relationships with defense primes, integrators, and government stakeholders.

    • Align NVD’s offerings with ITB obligations, NATO innovation initiatives, and industry consortia.

  • Capture & Proposals

    • Lead capture planning and contribute to/lead bid strategy, proposal writing, and partner negotiations.

    • Coordinate technical, commercial, and legal inputs into responses.

  • Strategic Positioning

    • Support C-suite in shaping market strategy and long-term account plans.

    • Represent NVD at industry events, trade shows, and government briefings. Must be willing to travel about 10% of the time.

    • Point of contact with Marketing to help shape outward facing materials.

  • Investor & Funding Engagement

    • Support non-dilutive funding applications and investor-facing materials, highlighting traction and commercial pathways.

    • Assist in preparation of stakeholder reporting materials.

Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of experience in business development, capture management, or strategy in a relevant sector.

  • Familiarity with Canadian defense procurement, ITB policy, and allied procurement environments (e.g., U.S. DoD, NATO, UK MoD).

  • Proven ability to secure partnerships, navigate RFPs, and close deals.

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills across technical, government, and commercial stakeholders.

  • Entrepreneurial mindset: comfortable operating in a startup environment where adaptability and initiative are key.

  • Eligible for Controlled Goods clearance.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • 5-10 years of experience in business development, capture management, or strategy in the defense sector.

  • Veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces, or prior service in allied militaries with procurement/capability development exposure.

  • Established network within CAF, DND, and major primes operating in Canada a bonus.

  • Direct experience working with Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC), Innovation, Science and Economic Development (ISED), or other federal agencies involved in defense procurement and ITB administration.

  • Hands-on familiarity with the procurement process (RFI, RFP, evaluation, bid protest, etc.) and defense innovation programs (IDEaS, ISC, DRDC).

  • Equally comfortable discussing technical roadmaps and commercial models.

  • Can “sell up and down”: articulate NVD’s vision to military personnel, investors, and engineers alike.

Why Join NVD?

  • Play a central role in building Canada’s next-generation air defense, directly supporting NORAD modernization, NATO priorities, and allied security.

  • Gain direct access to a career-defining defense network, from senior CAF/DND leadership, to primes and investors.

  • Join a fast-moving, innovative team anchored in Canadian sovereignty, with global reach and the flexibility of a startup environment.

  • Enter at a moment of rapid growth, with opportunities to influence capture strategies and expansion to international markets.
