At Too Good To Go, we have an ambitious mission: to inspire and empower everyone to fight food waste together.

More than 1/3 of all food produced in the world is wasted. And that has a huge impact on the health of our planet. 10% of greenhouse gas emissions come from food waste and loss.

Through our marketplace app, we connect businesses that have unsold, surplus food with consumers who can buy and enjoy it at ⅓ of retail value. We are a certified B Corporation with a mission to empower everyone to take action against food waste. Alongside our marketplace app, we create educational tools, explore new business solutions, and influence legislation to help reduce food waste.

We’re growing fast: Our community of 111 million registered users and 237,000 active partners across 19 countries has together already saved 410 million meals from going to waste!

We’re looking for a Business Development Representative to join the Canadian Sales team based in Toronto (Hybrid).

The Role:

A Business Development Representative at Too Good To Go should be hungry to build connections and grow our community of partners by signing up restaurants, cafes, convenience stores, bakeries, and any other food retailers.
A Business Development Representative is the first point of contact for the store and will be doing a lot of cold acquisition, primarily on the phone, via email, and virtual meetings. In this role, you will introduce potential partners to the world of Too Good To Go, train them on how to use the app, and advise them on finding the best possible solution for food waste. You will work with the team to research the market to find interesting prospects, identify decision-makers, and generate interest in Too Good To Go.

We are looking for:

  • Confident relationship builders, with excellent communication skills and the ability to connect and empathize with potential partners (restaurants, convenience stores, bakeries, and more)
  • Tenacious individuals aspiring to thrive in a high-volume cold calling environment - experience in business development prospecting is an asset
  • Team players who embrace the overall purpose of Too Good To Go and thrive in collaborative sales environments where sharing best practices is encouraged
  • Consistent and impact-focused performers who hit individual and company targets
  • Individuals with a growth mindset, who are ready to embody our values, learn and iterate with the Canadian market, and always seek continuous improvement
  • Willingness to take ownership of individual performance,  and effectively prioritize workload while communicating clearly and openly with their manager
  • Additional language skills are an asset

If you have:

  • An interest in business and sales and a desire to learn
  • High energy and self-motivation
  • First class communication skills - from listening to presenting ideas and persuading
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Driven not only by individual performance but also by the desire to see your team succeed

then we’d love to hear from you!

We recognize that every individual has a unique background that brings value, so we don’t require the following specific experience, but it would be nice if you have:

  • Experience in a sales role, specifically inside sales where you have pitched and closed opportunities over the phone.
  • Experience cold-calling, demonstrating the resilience and motivation to achieve high call volumes
  • Experience managing your own sales pipeline and prioritizing data based on insights

What to expect from our hiring process:

  • Talent Acquisition Interview: If successful, you will be invited to a 15 minute call with a member of the Talent Acquisition team.
  • Hiring Manager Interview: A one-hour session with two members of the sales team, inclusive of a short role play task and feedback session.
  • Final Interview: Join our final step, for 30 minutes, virtually - where you will meet with our Head of Sales.

Our values

  • We Win Together
  • We Raise the Bar
  • We Keep It Simple
  • We Build A Legacy
  • We Care

What we offer

  • A rare opportunity to work in a social impact company (and certified B Corporation!) where you can see real and tangible impact in your role.
  • Working alongside an international community of users, partners and 1,200+ colleagues across 19 countries that are on the same important mission.
  • Personal and professional development opportunities in a fast-paced scale-up environment.
  • An inclusive company culture where you can bring your authentic self to work
  • A strong, values-driven team culture where we celebrate successes and socialise with colleagues that care to offer

Benefits

  • WORK FLEXIBLY:
    • Enjoy hybrid working from our great offices, and at home
    • Extra parental leave and days off beyond local legislation and the option to take an extra week of unpaid leave
    • Health insurance and pension plans, new RRSP matching in Canada!
    • Additional days off for significant life events
  • CELEBRATE & SOCIALISE
    • Coffee, snacks and fully-equipped kitchens.
    • Get to know our community with a monthly free Surprise Bag
    • Paid volunteer time through our Shareback volunteering programme
    • Women in the Workplace, P.R.I.D.E., People of Colour and Functionally Diverse Employee Resource Groups

Interested in applying?

Please submit your resume and cover letter as soon as possible. A member of our Talent Acquisition team will be in touch within a few weeks. We look forward to reading your application!

A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is an annual base salary of CAD $50,000-$55,000 and varies depending on a number of factors, not limited to experience and language skills. Actual salaries and on target earnings (OTE) will vary.
