As a Business Development Representative, you will:
Build relationships with new clients and grow business with existing customers, focusing on construction equipment rentals, sales, and related services.
Develop and execute territory sales plans to increase equipment rental revenue, market share, and overall business growth.
Prospect and secure new customers through site visits, networking, cold calling, and industry events.
Maintain regular contact with contractors, project managers, superintendents, procurement teams, and other stakeholders to identify upcoming opportunities and understand client needs.
Conduct customer jobsite assessments and recommend practical, cost-effective equipment and service solutions.
Negotiate rental and sales agreements, including pricing, terms, and contract requirements.
Prepare and present rental proposals, client quotes, equipment utilization plans, value-added service offerings, and support pre-qualifications, RFPs, and estimating activities.
Help develop pricing strategies, job forecasts, sales forecasts, and business planning initiatives to support equipment procurement and operational decision-making.
Track sales activity, opportunities, market trends, competitor offerings, and local construction activity to maintain a competitive advantage.
Coordinate with operations, dispatch, service, logistics, and estimating teams to ensure equipment availability, on-time delivery, and successful project execution.
Manage customer relationships throughout the rental lifecycle, including delivery, support, extensions, exchanges, off-rent coordination, and issue resolution.
Monitor rental fleet utilization and identify opportunities to maximize equipment deployment, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
Promote additional Oxford services and products, including specialty equipment, transportation, maintenance programs, equipment sales, and other value-added solutions.
Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets while maintaining margin objectives.
Ensure all rental agreements, contracts, and customer documentation are completed accurately and comply with company policies and procedures.
Participate in project handoff meetings and collaborate with internal teams to support successful project delivery and ongoing customer satisfaction.
Is this role right for you?
3-5 years of experience in construction equipment rental, heavy equipment sales, construction operations, or a related industry.
Proven ability to develop and maintain relationships with general contractors, subcontractors, industrial clients, and infrastructure owners.
Strong understanding of construction schedules and how equipment requirements align with project phases.
Valid driver's license and willingness to travel regularly to customer sites and project locations.
Experience using CRM systems to manage sales pipelines, forecasts, and customer activities.
Demonstrated record of meeting or exceeding sales and profitability targets.
The salary range for this role is $65,000 - $75,000.
