About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Data Management Director to support the stand-up of the newly forming Chief Operating Office data domain. The Chief Operating Office is establishing a unique, dedicated, data domain to align responsibility and accountability for the Data Management Policy implementation and adherence for their operating unit. This is a key management role in the build out and ongoing support for this new and important function. This role will function as the Business Data Leader working with the Global Operations Head of Data and the Head of Data Analytics and Reporting in their role as the Domain Executive. This role will be one of the 9 Business Data Leaders at Wells Fargo.
In this role, you will:
Lead teams by making strategic decisions to resolve highly complex issues to meet higher risk deliverables
Interpret and develop business strategy and range of policies and procedures for defined areas to improve data consistency and controls
Ensure appropriate staffing and organizational structures for effective Data Management Policy adherence
Identify opportunities and strategies for process improvement and manage the functional budget
Collaborate and influence decision-making at all levels of professionals including senior leadership
Partner with the Data Products team to build out and govern key data assets for the Chief Operating Office
Manage allocation of people and financial resources to ensure commitments are met and align with strategic objectives
Develop and guide a culture of talent development to meet business objectives and strategy
Required Qualifications:
8+ years of Data Management, Business Research, Analytics, or leadership experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
4+ years of management or leadership experience
Desired Qualifications:
Proven experience implementing enterprise-wide Data Management Policies or comparable data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK, BCBS 239, or CMMI).
Demonstrated success leading high-impact, cross-functional business initiatives with measurable outcomes.
Deep understanding of the data supply chain lifecycle, including data production, distribution, and consumption across complex organizations.
Experience serving as a Risk Assessable Unit (RAU) owner or leading critical business processes with regulatory or operational significance.
Expertise in designing, implementing, and managing hybrid control environments that balance expected and specific controls.
Strong track record of identifying data issues, driving root cause analysis, and delivering sustainable corrective actions.
Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders and drive alignment across business and technology teams.
Familiarity with data quality, metadata management, and data lineage tools and practices.
Experience in regulated industries, financial services is highly preferred.
Job Expectations:
Ability to work at one of the posted locations below on a hybrid schedule of three (3) days in office and two (2) days from home.

Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.

Pay Range
Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.
