AE-RA-Tuteur / TA-RA-Tutor : $31.89 ou/or $50.25 (2024-2025)

The academic year starts on September 1 and ends on August 31.

Undergraduate students will be paid at the lower rate; while graduate students will be paid at the higher rate.

These rates do not included vacation pay nor statutory pay.

These rates will be applied until a new collective agreement is ratified. Retro will be paid after the ratification.

Job Summary

The Financial Research and Learning Lab Assistant will have various responsibilities, including monitoring the Lab and study rooms to ensure smooth operations, as well as ensuring that terminals and Lab resources are in working order, liaising with Telfer IT support or helpdesks as needed. The Lab Assistant will support users with lab resources and assist the Lab Supervisor in event planning and/or delivery, along with various projects throughout the semester, including creating and updating educational resources and marketing the Lab on social media.

Job Description:

Help monitor access to the Lab, the study rooms, and the computer terminals, as well as supervise the physical or online space in the absence of the Lab Supervisor, Help with day-to-day tasks and maintenance of the Lab’s physical resources to ensure efficiency and stability in Lab operations, liaising with Telfer IT support or helpdesks as needed. Help monitor Lab reservations and scheduling. Offer support to Lab users for available software and databases (initial training will be provided, as needed). Assist the Lab Supervisor, and other relevant stakeholders, in the organization and delivery of events (training sessions, presentations, workshops, competitions, etc.) Help with the maintenance and creation of the Lab’s website, guides, tutorials, and social media. Provide feedback on existing or potential software and databases and find opportunities for curriculum integration with the Lab. Collect Lab metrics.

Required Qualifications

Demonstrate initiative, professionalism, and strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to work autonomously and manage tasks independently. Demonstrated interest in, or experience with, working with the public and providing customer service or training. Ability to learn and develop expertise in Lab resources independently (initial training will be provided, as needed). Knowledge of, or interest in, finance or capital markets. Experience searching for information and working with data. Working proficiency in both English and French (oral and written).

Asset Qualifications

Experience with financial databases (i.e., Bloomberg, FactSet, Capital IQ, or RIT), and/or programming languages such as Python or R. Please list relevant databases in your application, if applicable. Completion of relevant finance coursework (e.g. ADM – 2350 Financial Management, ADM – 2352 - Finance Theory, ADM 2750 – Gestion financière, ADM 2752 – Théorie financière).

Schedule

Total of 130 hours for the semester. Approximately 10 hours per week: Minimum 5 hours on Monday, remainder on Tuesday or Thursday late afternoon/evening.
