What is it like to be a senior Data Engineer at Northbridge Financial
The Data Engineer is responsible for supporting the design and development of ETL/ELT code that extracts and manipulates data from a variety of complex sources and populates the Enterprise Data Warehouse—various sources, including net-new sources and legacy sources transitioning from legacy reporting environments.

If you are great at:
- Interface with business systems analysts, solution designers, data architects, and other business stakeholders to understand the business requirements.
- Assist with analysis and profiling of various source data and understand the high-level relationships between data sources.
- Parse unstructured and semi-structured data such as JSON, XML etc.
- Design and develop efficient Mapping and workflows to load data onto Data Marts.
- Performance tuning of ETL/ELT mappings and queries.
- Design and develop ETL/ELT Pipeline for CI/CD.
- Ensure all forms of communication (verbal, email, business documents, and technical documents) are clear, concise, and professional.
- Develop, test, and document ETL/ELT solutions in a complex data warehouse environment with numerous disparate source systems.
- Use Microsoft SQL Server 2012, Snowflake and SSIS/ADF/DBT for data integration, Control-M for package scheduling, and TFS or Azure GIT repository for version control and task management.
- Use Agile/scrum project methodology.
- Ensuring that all development strictly adheres to the ETL/ELT framework, naming standards, and best practices as provided.
- Performing database modifications as required in accordance with team processes and standards.
- Provide production support for operations and on-call work of legacy and new data warehouses as assigned,
If you have:
- Post-secondary degree in Math, Computer Science, or Engineering or equivalent work experience.
- 4-6 years of IT experience.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in ETL design and development in a BI environment.
- Knowledge of Property and Casualty industry, technologies, and products.
