Summary:
The Data Engineer is responsible for supporting the design, development, and maintenance of data systems and pipelines. This position focuses on developing technical proficiency, executing assigned tasks, and contributing to the team’s data engineering initiatives. Individuals in this role typically have 0–2 years of experience and a foundational understanding of data engineering concepts. The Data Engineer is expected to demonstrate a strong willingness to learn, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Continuously build proficiency in data engineering tools, technologies, and programming languages such as Python, SQL, and Java. Learn foundational concepts in data modeling, ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, and database management.
Accurately and efficiently execute assigned data engineering tasks. Assist in the development and maintenance of reliable, scalable data pipelines that support business objectives.
Proactively seek opportunities to expand data engineering knowledge through training, project work, and mentorship from senior team members.
Work closely with data engineers, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and deliver effective solutions. Provide regular updates and communicate challenges to team leads or managers.
Participate in data quality assurance efforts, including testing and validating data pipelines and systems. Support adherence to best practices for data accuracy, integrity, and security.
Create and maintain documentation for data workflows, processes, and system configurations to ensure knowledge transfer and support system maintenance.
Identify and troubleshoot basic data issues. Collaborate with senior team members to resolve complex problems and implement effective solutions.
Remain flexible to changing priorities and project needs. Demonstrate a willingness to learn and apply new tools and technologies as required.
Ensure high levels of accuracy in data handling, transformation, and reporting. Validate outputs to minimize errors and ensure high-quality data products.
Conduct oneself professionally with internal teams and external stakeholders. Follow company guidelines for data handling, privacy, and security.
Comply with all company policies and procedures.
Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
Exposure to data warehousing concepts
Knowledge of version control systems like Git
Participation in open-source, academic, or personal data engineering projects
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree from a Four (4) year College or University in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field preferred.
3+ years of experience in a data engineering, data analytics, or related technical role
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

May require familiarity with the financial/mortgage (or job-specific) industry. Problems require understanding of other job areas. Problems are typically solved through drawing from prior experiences, with analysis of the issue.

The estimated base pay compensation for this role is:
$84,935.00 - $157,896.00In addition, certain roles may be eligible for commission based on loans closed.
