A fantastic opportunity for Junior Database Engineer, looking to build their career working with one of the worlds largest financial institutions.


This role will sit within Trade Reporting & Allocations, which is part of the Institutional Securities Technology Division. It is responsible for maintaining, distributing, and reporting on trading, revenue, risk, and reference data (client, product, and pricing). As the authoritative source of key data sets, They are at the forefront of database technology and are heavily involved in data engineering, data science, data visualization, and machine learning efforts across the bank.


This area is responsible for systems and infrastructure that supports trade data extraction/enrichment, Data-Mart creation, report generation and distribution, high performance business intelligence platforms for internal clients.


  • The Reference Data Development Team is tasked with database engineering projects and other strategic RDBMS product evaluations.
  • The team is looking for talented data engineers to contribute on the development of its core infrastructure components on Sybase, DB2 and MSSQL database plants as well as new database platforms such as MongoDB, Snowflake and Azure SQL.
  • The successful candidate must be passionate about data, have a strong interest and experience in RDBMS technologies, including enterprise-scale, real time, highly accessed transactional databases and replication systems.
  • This position offers an opportunity to participate in lively discussion on technical and business issues, meaning that strong communication skills and willingness to express their own views as well as listen to others is vital.
  • The tasks will include performance optimization, testing, database engineering, platform migration, version upgrades, development and distribution on cloud platforms.
  • You must be able to operate in a fast-paced Agile environment where time to market is a key requirement without compromising on the quality and resiliency of the application.

Required skills:

  • At least 3 years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge (intermediate level) of development and performance optimization on major RDBMS and NoSQL (MongoDB) technologies
  • Scripting knowledge (python) 
  • Basic knowledge of Unix/Linux operating systems
  • Excellent communication skills.

Nice to have:

  • Data modeling concepts.
  • Version control, preferably with GIT.
  • Knowledge of ETL products such as Talend or Informatica.

  • Experience working in geographically dispersed teams.
