Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior DevOps/Cloud Engineer to support the design, implementation, and maintenance of cloud-based environments and CI/CD pipelines. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing, deploying, securing, and optimizing cloud applications while ensuring high availability, scalability, and operational efficiency.

Qualifications and Experience

  • University/College degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Certification in Software Engineering or related discipline is considered an asset.
  • Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience supporting cloud platforms and CI/CD pipeline initiatives.
  • Extensive experience across the application development lifecycle, including unit, functional, integration, system, regression, penetration, performance, and user acceptance testing.
  • Strong experience executing systems integration using Linux Shell scripting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience tracking problems and defects within large-scale projects.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within team environments.

Technical Capabilities

  • Experience with leading cloud platforms such as AWS, OpenShift, or similar technologies.
  • Experience maintaining complex Linux cloud environments, including CentOS and Ubuntu.
  • Strong proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, Java, JavaScript, and Node.js.
  • Experience with build and automation tools including Git, Ansible, CloudFormation, ytt, and related CI/CD technologies.
  • Experience with application containerization and virtualization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes (K8S).
  • Experience with container orchestration for application deployment, scaling, clustering, monitoring, and automation.
  • Experience integrating systems using APIs and other integration endpoints.
  • Knowledge of industry web, architecture, and security standards and best practices.
  • Hands-on experience with GitLab CI/CD.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess frameworks, platforms, and technology stacks to support the development of cloud-based solutions.
  • Design, build, and support cloud environments for deployment of digital products.
  • Design, build, develop, and administer CI/CD pipelines that enable continuous development and deployment of modular cloud-based systems.
  • Monitor and assess cloud-hosted applications to ensure reliability, availability, and optimal performance.
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve infrastructure vulnerabilities and application deployment issues.
  • Create, test, and implement safeguards to maintain data integrity and protect against unauthorized access.

Deliverables

  • Prepare execution plans, testing scripts, and technical design documentation.
  • Build and execute technical solutions and automation scripts.
  • Analyze results and create reports for management as required.
  • Track problems, defects, and issues throughout large-scale project initiatives.
  • Create knowledge base articles documenting procedures, solutions, and best practices.

Work Arrangement

  • Hybrid work model.
  • Minimum of 3 days per week onsite in Toronto, Ontario.
