Then we want you on our Digital & Data team. We are looking for a Digital & Data Engineer who will play a key role in developing and scaling Jotun’s autonomous hull cleaning solution, addressing one of the maritime industry’s most pressing challenges: biofouling and fuel efficiency.
About Hull Skating Solutions (HSS)
Hull Skating Solutions is Jotun’s integrated robotics and digital offering for underwater hull inspection and cleaning. HSS is developed through close collaboration between Jotun, technology and robotics partners, and operates at the intersection of hardware, software, data, and maritime operations.

The position will preferably be based at headquarters in Sandefjord, though other locations may be considered. For internal Jotun candidates, the role can either be remote from your home country or based in Norway on a local contract. Some travel (20–30 days per year) should be expected.
Main Responsibilities
Contribute to the development and maintenance of digital and data components of the Hull Skating Solutions platform, working across robotics operations, data pipelines, analytics, machine learning, and AI.
Focus on developing and applying advanced analytics and data science methods, supporting hull condition prediction and operational decision-making.
Implement and support data pipelines and services that ingest, process, and expose data from autonomous robots, sensors, inspections, and external maritime data sources.
Contribute to the use of Azure- and Snowflake-based cloud services to operationalize and expose analytics and data science methods consumed by internal tools, partner platforms, and customer-facing applications.
Work closely with robotics engineers, domain experts, and platform teams to contribute to effective integration between hardware, software, and data systems.
Participate in experimentation and prototyping of new digital capabilities, contributing to the evaluation of emerging technologies relevant to robotics, data, and AI.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of the HSS digital and data stack, including code quality, documentation, and technical best practices.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR AND WHAT WE OFFER
Formal Qualifications
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in data science, Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related technical field.
Good programming skills, primarily in Python; experience developing production code is an advantage.
Experience or strong interest in data science, analytics, and machine learning, applied to real-world problems.
Familiarity with data pipelines and modern data stacks, or motivation to learn technologies such as Azure, Snowflake, APIs, and cloud-based services.
Fluent in English, written and spoken.
Comfortable working cross-functionally in technical environments, collaborating with robotics, software, and domain experts.

This role is well suited for data scientists or data engineers early in their career who want to develop hands-on experience working with robotics, data science, and production systems in a high-autonomy environment.
