Who We Are

North Vector Dynamics is a Canadian-owned and controlled defence technology company specializing in precision interception, autonomy, and advanced propulsion. NVD is building a full-spectrum missile capability, from counter-UAS solutions to hypersonics, designed to serve and defend NATO member states and their allies and partners.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Growth, the Director of Business Development is responsible for executing NVD's business development activities in the Canadian market and as required, internationally. The Director manages the opportunity pipeline, oversees capture activity, maintains working-level customer and partner relationships, and drives qualified opportunities toward contract award. The role requires detailed knowledge of NVD's products and the defence acquisition environment, combined with strong commercial judgment and the ability to coordinate complex pursuits.

What You'll Do

Pipeline and Pursuit Execution

· Manage NVD's business development pipeline, including opportunity qualification, prioritization, forecasting and next actions.

· Develop recommendations on bid/no-bid decisions, pursuit priorities and resource requirements for the Head of Growth and senior leadership.

· Oversee priority pursuits and ensure they have clear capture strategies, schedules, responsibilities and decision points.

· Lead selected pursuits directly and drive opportunities through RFIs, RFQs, RFPs, demonstrations, down-selects, negotiations and contract award.

· Coordinate engineering, product, finance, legal and executive contributors and ensure formal submissions are competitive, compliant and delivered on time.

Customer, Partner and Market Execution

· Maintain working-level relationships with program managers, requirements staff, procurement officials, contracting authorities and other customer representatives associated with active opportunities.

· Maintain working-level relationships with prime contractors, systems integrators, platform providers and other partners, translating strategic partnerships into pursuit-level activity.

· Develop detailed knowledge of NVD's products and work with technical teams to match capabilities to customer requirements while accurately representing current and future capability.

· Maintain intelligence on competitors, incumbent systems, alternative solutions and procurement activity and incorporate it into opportunity qualification and capture planning.

· Directly manage commercial opportunities that can be advanced without significant senior-level strategic shaping.

Business Development Leadership and Operations

· Manage and develop NVD's Capture Management function, allocate pursuit responsibilities and maintain accountability for execution.

· Own the business development operating cadence, including pipeline and pursuit reviews, forecasting, CRM discipline and action tracking.

· Track pipeline performance, wins and losses and apply lessons learned to improve future pursuits.

· Provide concise commercial reporting and recommendations to the Head of Growth and senior leadership.

· Coordinate with Government Relations and Communications and Marketing functions to ensure their activities support priority commercial objectives.

What You BringRequired

· Significant progressively responsible experience in defence business development, capture management, procurement, defence program management or a closely related field.

· Strong knowledge of the Canadian defence market and defence acquisition environment.

· Demonstrated experience qualifying and advancing complex defence or government opportunities through multiple stages of the procurement lifecycle.

· Experience developing capture strategies, assessing competitive position and supporting bid/no-bid decisions.

· Strong commercial and analytical judgment and the ability to manage multiple concurrent opportunities.

· Ability to understand sophisticated defence technologies and engage credibly with military customers, procurement professionals, engineers and industry partners.

· Strong communication, negotiation, project-management and organizational skills.

· Experience managing or developing business development, capture or proposal professionals.

· Must hold or be eligible to obtain and maintain a Government of Canada Secret security clearance.

Preferred

· Experience with NATO or other allied and partner defence acquisition processes.

· Experience in missiles, air defence, counter-UAS, precision-guided weapons, aerospace or related defence technologies.

· Established relationships across the Canadian defence acquisition community.

· Experience working with defence primes, systems integrators or platform providers.

· Working proficiency in French.

Why North Vector Dynamics

· Enter the defence sector at a formative moment and help build sovereign domestic missile capability to serve Canada and its allies and partners.

· Join a founder-led company with highly credible engineering credentials. NVD builds real products, not concept-stage pitches.

· Work directly with NVD's founders and senior leadership on priority pursuits and shape NVD's business development approach as the company scales.

· Competitive compensation with meaningful upside at an early-stage defence technology company, backed by back-to-back funding rounds and a growing team.
