What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll be joining CIBC’s Capital Markets Technology (CMT) department, specifically within FICC eTrading Technology. The Director, Data Analysis is responsible for the overall, business analysis and solution design of the strategic roadmap for the Fixed Income business plan. This role will include major accountability over the planning, management of the sub-streams of the portfolio including responsibility for the business partner relationship. This is a key role within the Fixed Income technology group to understand, manage, and drive forward the Fixed Income overall technology strategy. This role will cover front to back rollouts, migrations, including a key accountability to drive product roadmap, and contribute to the expansion of the internal platforms. Resource management, solution design, relationship building and strong leadership are keys to the success of this role. Through direct and indirect management of a variety of resources, you will have the opportunity to provide impact to a fast moving business with expansive growth plans.
How You’ll Succeed
- Technology Delivery: Provide expert technical guidance on the operational vision (or business case) to ensure they are aligned with enterprise strategies/standards and satisfying the technical strategy and design for the business. Oversee the completion of project deliverables by providing appropriate leadership and resources; ensure optimal quality of the applications while delivering solutions that are aligned with the business strategy; deliver on time and on budget and successfully meet commitments with high quality.
- Strategic Relationship Management: Directly partner with Capital Markets front office and contribute to overall business strategies; identify opportunities to leverage technology to meet business goals, increase efficiency and create robust platforms that support operational excellence; and liaise with third party vendors regarding contract negotiations; understand and validate the vendor technical architectures to ensure they are aligned with the enterprise standards and/or are well understood by employees and have the necessary approvals from governing bodies within the enterprise.
- Strong Leadership & Expertise: Provide leadership to Technology & Operations executive teams as required. Balance business requirements to current technical roadmap, and be a promoter of change and innovation to enable the long-term goals of the FI Trading business.
- Resource Management: Provide technology leadership and strategic direction to Fixed Income teams and business executives as required. Be a bold and authentic leader who is passionate about developing and coaching to bring out the best in people. Provide direction, motivate, develop and manage performance of key staff.
Who You Are
- You can demonstrate experience with: Leading Business Analysis teams ideally within Fixed Income, Capital Markets, or other Capital Markets Trading streams. Have extensive practical experience in working with Front Office Stakeholders and managing end-to-end client Solution Delivery or have in-depth experience with Front Office workflows. You have at least 5 years of Data Bricks and KDB+ experience, along with at least 5 years of Plotly, Tableau, SQL and/or PowerBI. You possess expert level knowledge of trading desk workflows and can appreciate the innovative mindset that needs to be applied to the environment.
