Who We Are
Inspiren offers a complete and connected technology ecosystem for senior living. Founded by Michael Wang, a former Green Beret and cardiothoracic nurse, Inspiren was built on the belief that compassionate care and technology can and should coexist.
Our integrated solutions fit into existing workflows and give senior-living operators greater visibility into what is happening across their communities. Supported by nurse specialists and powerful analytics, Inspiren helps teams make informed clinical and operational decisions that improve efficiency, outcomes, and quality of care.
You’ll join a growing global team united by a shared mission, with a new NYC office designed to strengthen collaboration and in-person connection.
About the RoleWe are seeking an Embedded Software Leader that will own everything from the OS up on every device we ship: the application software, the update and rollback path, and how tens of thousands of devices behave in senior living communities. When a device goes down in a community, it's a resident safety issue, and your team owns the outcome. Hardware & Firmware own everything below the OS, and you'll work closely with them and our JDM partner. We're open to different levels of leadership experience and will calibrate the scope and level of the role based on the strengths and experience of the person we hire.
What You'll DoFleet reliability and operations: Define the SLOs (uptime, time-to-recover, OTA success, cloud-dark rate, crash-loop rate), build the telemetry to measure them, and run the operating rhythm: on-call, incident response, postmortems.
OTA and release engineering: Own updates, staged rollouts, health checks, and rollback across multiple hardware generations, silicon vendors, and both MCU and Linux devices.
Device application platform: Own the embedded Linux application layer (services, containers, configuration, connectivity, on-device inference runtime) and the application logic on MCU devices (LoRaWAN/BLE, pendant and beacon behavior). Keep it decoupled from hardware revisions so your team ships without waiting on firmware or board cycles.
Partnership with Hardware, Firmware, and the JDM: Make sure JDM-delivered firmware is something we can build on, and embed your engineers in NPI from bring-up so the people who sustain a device are there when it comes alive.
Team building: Own org design, hiring, and career growth for the embedded software team, and set the norms (joint definition of done, shared on-call across the hardware/software seam, clear code ownership) that make cross-team ownership work.
AI-native engineering: Bring AI into the codebase: generated test harnesses, fleet log triage, regression analysis, code review augmentation.
5+ years in embedded, firmware, edge, or device software, with 2+ years leading a software team
Experience hiring, building, and managing teams of embedded or device software engineers
You've operated a production fleet: owned OTA, fleet health, and availability for thousands of connected devices in the field. You can walk us through a staged rollout, a rollback you had to execute, and the telemetry that told you to
Hands-on depth in embedded Linux applications: you've shipped and sustained the OS-up layer (Yocto or equivalent, systemd, containers on device, connectivity, update clients) on production hardware, and you can engage on what sits below it
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence executive leadership and pivot strategies to meet 1-year and 2-year business goals. Start-up experience is a plus.
Experience working across a hardware/firmware seam (in-house team, ODM/JDM, or both) with a defined interface contract
MCU application experience
Fleet telemetry and observability at scale
Regulated or high-stakes environments (healthcare, safety-critical, HIPAA)
On-device ML runtime integration (NVIDIA Jetson, MediaTek NPU, or similar)
Experience on the receiving end of an NPI handoff and improving the process
At the Director level: you've led multiple teams or managed managers, and owned a multi-quarter hiring plan
