What you’ll be doing
As the Director, IT Project Management, you‘ll be joining CIBC’s CAO Tech PMO Team to manage delivery of a portfolio of innovative and cross functional projects. This role supports all VP teams within the Personal and Business Banking, Simplii and Investing Technology Domain. This role is an individual contributor and will not have any direct reports.

How you’ll succeed
- Strategic development & execution - Manage the day-to-day project and/or Program activities of highly complicated project(s), in an inter-related strategic program following Technology’s project performance standards. Perform highly technical business planning and return on investment outcomes. Initiate, plan, execute, control and close out the program or project with an emphasis on project inter-dependency management.
- Relationship management - Maintain relationships with business management to identify technology needs and align application services to support those needs. Establish and maintain stakeholder, client, and senior management relationships. Mentor sponsors and senior management.
- Strong leadership - Be a daring and authentic leader who is passionate about developing and coaching to bring out the best in people. Be able to set direction, culture and lead very large project delivery teams that do not report directly into you.
Who you are
- You can demonstrate significant experience in: end to end project delivery and project management as an IT Director, or in a similar role (8-10 years). Projects should be multi million in technology work and span multiple teams and applications supporting both business and technology programs. You deliver results in a matrix environment where they may not have direct influence on project resources. You must have previous experience establishing and maintaining stakeholder and sponsor relationships and you have experience in integration projects and keen interest in architecture and high level design. You have proven experience in managing a large budget, across multiple teams and landing it within a very tight variance. You have led the delivery of major programs and projects at CIBC and bring a wealth of knowledge across multiple teams and businesses.
- You have extensive experience in creating and leading presentations at the ESC level. You have the proven ability to create executive level documentation autonomously and present a clear and concise update to senior level management. Exceptional power points skills are a must! Ability to provide exceptionally clear verbal updates is critical. You are comfortable presenting to Sr leadership and leading team members through discussions.
- You love the numbers! Not only have you managed complex technology budgets at the project level, but you also have proven experience working on Business Cases. You clearly understand the process towards IOB presentations and how the business measures and tracks benefits. You are comfortable representing technology in the business case creation including all the internal reviews and approvals.
- You thrive at learning and understanding a large variety of technical programs. This projects in this program are very diverse and you need to be interested in diving deep into the solution and understanding how it all works.
- You embrace and advocate for change. You continuously evolve your thinking and the way you work in order to deliver your best. You are consistently working in process improvements to make things better for yourself and the whole team. You are comfortable in a world that is constantly changes with the business and technology needs.
