Our Opportunity:
Chewy Pharmacy Fulfillment Network is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Pharmacist Operations to lead and scale our pharmacy operations while maintaining a strong emphasis on personalized patient care and prescription accuracy. This critical role oversees multi-site pharmacist activities, compliance, and medication-related services across diverse pharmacy domains, including Retail, Wholesale, and Shared Services.
The ideal candidate is a natural leader, adept at fostering engaged teams, driving operational efficiencies, and enhancing the customer experience through continuous improvement activities, continuing education, and industry best practices. The ideal leader for this role thrives in ambiguity, leverages data for informed decision-making, and has a passion for serving patient needs. The role requires balancing short-term goals with the development and execution of long-term strategic projects, ensuring strict adherence to quality and compliance standards.
What You'll Do:

  • Collaborate with Healthcare Compliance, Legal, Product, PICs, Business Leadership and Operational Leadership to manage and reduce risk with State Boards of Pharmacy, FDA and maintain third-party accreditations.
  • Cultivate a positive, feedback-rich team culture within the pharmacy network, encouraging continuous improvement and adaptability to changing business needs.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends to enhance operational efficiency and uphold a world-class quality mentality.
  • Collaborate with teams in Capacity Planning, S&OP, HR, Supply Chain, Healthcare Compliance, Quality and Pharmacy Business to achieve key objectives.
  • Identify and implement system improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Design and implement robust training and onboarding programs for Pharmacist teams, including defining content requirements, onboarding metrics, and ongoing development plans.
  • Develop, mentor, and lead a team of exempt leaders, pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, resulting in innovation and excellence in customer care.
  • Develop and achieve Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to safety, product quality, timely order processing, and employee engagement.
  • Partner cross-functionally with pharmacy and business leadership teams to drive volume growth and product catalog expansion.
  • Undertake other responsibilities to enhance customer and employee experiences.


Job Requirements:

  • Active pharmacist licensure in good standing in at least one state, with the ability to obtain additional state licensures as needed.
  • 7-10 years of progressive leadership experience in a pharmaceutical dispensing environment with deep expertise in key pharmacy domains.
  • Proven ability to design, build, and execute new initiatives in partnership with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Experience thriving in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with ambiguity and frequent change.
  • Exceptional communication skills across all levels of leadership, with the ability to escalate and resolve issues appropriately.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Operational acumen to develop scalable solutions in line with organizational growth.
  • Self-starter mentality with the ability to work independently and run competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing conditions while consistently delivering results.
  • Passion for customer service and strategic guidance to support business decisions.
  • Results-driven and highly energetic, with a hands-on approach to leadership.


Bonus Qualifications:

  • Certification in Lean Six Sigma or equivalent (e.g., Green Belt certification).
  • Experience managing e-commerce multi-site fulfillment or distribution operations.
