Your future team
We're hiring a Director of Product Counsel, reporting to the Deputy General Counsel - Product. Our Product Counsel team is a newly formed organization in Atlassian Legal, focused on serving as a strategic partner and trusted advisor to Product teams. We're looking for an attorney ready to guide the business on issues at the intersection of customer needs, legal risk, and business objectives.
This role will require collaboration with both our US and India-based teams, so EST time zone is preferred.
What you'll do
- Support product and feature launches from inception to launch for your assigned collection.
- Successfully manage relationships with Product team members and executives.
- Partner with Legal subject matter experts and cross-functional teams to provide pragmatic legal counsel to the business.
- Advise on novel Legal issues including artificial intelligence
- Build our new Product Counsel function with us - we're looking for someone who is excited to develop new ideas and execute!
Your background
- 8 + years of experience in Product Counsel at a software company, ideally in the B2B SaaS space.
- Passion for building programs from scratch - as a new team we're looking for builders.
- You have a simplifier skillset (no legalese for our Product teams), strong writing skills to excel in our async environment, comfort using technology to get your work done (we love our own tools!), and you're energized by a fast-paced and agile working environment.
- Background in a law firm and in-house legal team.
- Required Juris Doctor, with a license to practice law in your jurisdiction.
- Bonus for candidates who are familiar with Atlassian tools.
Compensation
At Atlassian, we strive to design equitable, explainable, and competitive compensation programs. To support this goal, the baseline of our range is higher than that of the typical market range, but in turn we expect to hire most candidates near this baseline. Base pay within the range is ultimately determined by a candidate's skills, expertise, or experience. In the United States, we have three geographic pay zones. For this role, our current base pay ranges for new hires in each zone are:
Zone A: $221,900 - $295,900
Zone B: $199,700 - $266,300
Zone C: $184,200 - $245,600
This role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity.
