How You Will Contribute:
MCAD/ECAD Design Support – Developing and maintaining the mechanical piece-part library and electrical component footprint for MCAD/ECAD collaboration, along with providing technical assistance and expertise in Mechanical Computer-Aided Design (MCAD) tools and processes, ensures smooth integration between electrical and mechanical design aspects of a product
Key Responsibilities:
- Working along with Tool Prime to support mechanical tools
- Work with the internal support teams to manage user and team access permissions in the mechanical design database
- Collaborate closely with design engineers, mechanical engineers, and process engineers to produce electrical/mechanical component symbol/footprints
- Support corporate initiatives to help automate processes that access mechanical design data.
- Maintain, review, and expand catalog of off-the-shelf parts to support the mechanical design teams, and organize mechanical design data, ensuring consistent data flow between ECAD and MCAD system
- Initiates the process of improving the MCAD/ECAD Library coding
- Develop Allegro footprints for new electrical components and mechanical piece parts directly from component datasheet specifications according to Ciena standards
- Create custom pad-stacks for press-fit connector pin holes in addition to surface-mount and through-hole pad stacks
- Request component vendors for clarifications on missing specifications for new components and datasheet requirements
- Verify schematic symbols and physical footprints for parts created by other librarians for accuracy and compliance with Ciena’ standards
- Work closely with Product Engineering teams to update existing footprints to meet evolving new DFM and new technologies requirements
The Must Haves:
- Experience with Cadence Allegro, Creo & SolidWorks
- Work experience with the Cadence Part Developer, Creo and SolidWorks
- Familiarity with scripting languages such as Perl and Python
- Work experience as a component librarian
- Familiar with symbol and pad stack editor, plus the Cadence library EDM environment
- Familiar with IPC naming conventions for footprints and IPC footprint calculator
- Basic knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
- CAD/CAM experience
Assets:
- Skill in interpreting datasheets, able to research and extract pertinent information for coding requirements
- Understanding of the footprint for PCB layout guidelines and IPC standard
- Proficiency in interpreting manufacturer data sheets and understanding of the PCB manufacturability and assembly process
- Ability to adapt to change to work well in fast paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Detailed oriented and responsive
- Self-motivated, strong work ethic, and well organized
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Team players work effectively with others in a multi-disciplinary team
Pay Range
The annual pay range for this position is $69,300 - $110,700.

Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
