Essential Functions / Key Responsibilities
- Participate in the software, hardware, and test plan development for calibrating and measuring performance of Infinera’s Digital Coherent Optical (DCO) modules, operating at 400-1200 GBps per wave, based on Photonics Integrated Circuits (PIC)s
- Define and configure required test instrumentation and hardware
- Partner with product team to author, debug, and refine novel, efficient optical calibration sequences
- Co-develop with firmware, DSP teams on feature introduction
- Develop software to fully automate the test execution
- Partner with engineering staff to define and implement detailed testability requirements
- Provide fault isolation and identification capability to the design and manufacturing technical staff
- Help drive end to end test yield improvements and test time reduction efforts
Education / Experience
- BS in science or engineering required, MS or PhD desired (Physics, Optics, Electrical Eng)
- Previous experience in developing test and measurement solutions for electrical and optical components or subsystems is beneficial
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
- Proficient in writing scalable software a requirement.
- Experience with object-oriented languages required. VB.Net exposure is a plus.
- Familiarity with quadrature amplitude modulation theory is a requirement; modern DSP knowledge including soft decision FEC is helpful.
- Experience with testing and characterizing photonic circuits containing I/Q modulators and demodulators.
- Hands on experience with optical and electrical test and measurement equipment including programmable optical power meters, attenuators, and switches, optical spectrum analyzers, digital multi-meters and oscilloscopes
- Experience with Serdes, electrical RF testing, and FEC operation are all pluses
- Attention to detail and willingness to produce detailed test plan documentation
- Experience with digital and mixed signal IC testing is beneficial
