The Role:


Email Marketing Manager The Muse is seeking an Email Marketing Manager who is a creative, entrepreneurial, results-oriented, growth marketer at heart. Please note: This position will begin as coverage for a team member’s maternity leave, with the possibility of becoming a long-term role based on business needs.


Reporting to the Chief Innovation Officer, the Email Marketing Manager will oversee our email program’s strategy, execution and growth—building and sending emails, scheduling, campaign strategy, email design, nurture flows, reporting, A/B testing, and more. You’ll work closely with teams across the organization—account management, product, data, editorial, and The Muse Productions—to ensure that our email strategy supports the business as a whole.


Our email campaigns are built and deployed through SendGrid, but you’ll also use tools like Looker and Airtable to manage the program’s success.


How you will make an impact… 


-Own the email calendar: coordinate across teams to plan and schedule email campaigns

-Build and deploy all emails using SendGrid Marketing Campaigns editor

-QA all emails and work with stakeholders in Editorial and Account Management to to test and incorporate feedback during the approval process; some QA processes will include external clients

-Lead the core communications strategies across both advice and job seeker audiences 

-Make decisions on optimizations to scale communications across all customer campaigns (Newsletters, Job Alerts, etc)—plan, execute, and analyze A/B testing, using results to form actionable insights to inform planning and future strategy

-Partner with Product to increase our subscriber base and identify new triggers/data points to improve relevancy

-Own reporting and channel analysis—monitoring performance data to guide decision making

-Serve as the owner of SendGrid, our email platform, across the organization

-Identify areas for process improvement and work cross-functionally to implement

-Monitor and manage email deliverability, list growth, and hygiene

-Manage tracking and revenue recognition for sponsored email campaigns.

-You have extensive experience working with email platforms and leading and scaling a sizable email function (+4M emails per month)

-You love building businesses and have experience exponentially growing an email and/or newsletter file

-You are comfortable and some familiarity working with both editorial and branded content

-You have a passion for doing what is right by subscribers by leveraging sound quantitative abilities and problem-solving skills 

-You’re analytically-minded, comfortable with Excel and have been directly responsible for data analysis and synthesis; you enjoy using data to make recommendations on how marketing/content programs can better reach a user and meet business goals

-You possess strong project and process management skills with an exceptional attention to detail

-You can work independently and manage multiple priorities concurrently

-You have worked across teams on projects with multiple stakeholders, and know how to get this done

-You have a growth mindset focused on driving outcomes with a can-do attitude and a demonstrated pattern of accountable decision making
