Embedded Software Technical Manager

Lumentum is looking for an Embedded Software Technical Manager to lead a team of Embedded Software Engineers to shape the next generation of advanced optical communication products. In this role, you’ll be part of a world-class team designing, developing, and supporting cutting-edge embedded software across a wide range of technologies.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership to enable the success of your team of Embedded Software Engineers.
  • Technically contribute to software designs and implementation.
  • Be the primary interface for internal teams and customers to investigate, diagnose and resolve complex software issues.
  • Work with your team to document and review requirements/designs with peers and stake holders.
  • Oversee the documentation, review and automation of designer and unit test cases.
  • Provide support throughout the software life cycle for product verification and customers.
  • Collaborate and share technical expertise with members of the software team.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years technically leading/managing an embedded software team.
  • Strong technical foundation in real-time embedded software in C/C++ on Linux.
  • Solid understanding of multi-threaded software development.
  • Team player with strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strong problem solving, troubleshooting and debugging skills.
  • Successful track record of software development technical leadership.

Assets:

  • Python, GOLANG, Shell Scripting.
  • Knowledge of SONiC, Redis, Docker, OpenConfig, YANG, Protocol Buffers, gRPC, gNxI.
  • Linux, SYSBIOS, FreeRTOS or other embedded OS software development.
  • Familiarity with hardware devices such as ADCs/DACs/Clocks/UART/FPGAs.
  • Knowledge of interfacing to embedded devices via interfaces such as PCIe, I2C, SPI, RS-232.
