Position Details:

  • Salary range:  $70,000 - $90,000

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Cover Canadian power markets, with a focus on regulatory and policy activity in Ontario and Alberta.

  • Develop sources and conduct interviews with regulators, market participants, and industry stakeholders.
  • Attend (virtually and in person) regulatory meetings, technical conferences, and industry events.
  • Work closely with editors to identify important developments and shape ongoing coverage.
  • Track and report on broader trends, including energy transition, decarbonization, and resource adequacy.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or equivalent professional experience.
  • 3+ years of reporting experience (energy, policy, business, or related beats preferred).
  • Strong reporting and writing skills, with the ability to quickly produce accurate, engaging copy.
  • Ability to understand and explain technical or policy-heavy material.
  • Self-directed and comfortable working on deadline.
  • Familiarity with energy regulation or power markets is a plus.
