🤙🏼 About gaiia

At gaiia, we're building the leading platform for Communications Service Providers (CSPs) that truly care about their customers. Our core product is an operating system (OS) for telcos that manages billing, operations, automation and everything in between.

We offer competitive pay and benefits, attractive stock options, unparalleled transparency, and a 100% remote environment. We're excited to have you join us for your next career adventure!

🎭 Role & Team

We’re looking to hire a Team Lead & Full-Stack Software Developer who demonstrates extreme ownership, sharp problem-solving skills, and exceptional interpersonal abilities to join our Network squad.

You will join a team of 4 Full-Stack Developers (including you), a Product Manager and a Product Designer, dedicated to gaiia’s network modules: Network Monitoring, Incident Management, and Inventory & Fulfillment.

You will be reporting to the VP Eng. At gaiia, Team Leads spend their time between coding (50%) and responsibilities such as technical design, code reviews, and people management (50%). We aim to encourage skilled and passionate developers to continue coding while also enabling their peers to benefit from their technical and people leadership.

In the Network squad, your mission is to own how gaiia sees and controls our customers’ networks: monitoring what’s live, responding when it breaks, provisioning what’s next, and keeping inventory accurate as operators grow. Your squad sits at the boundary between gaiia and a long tail of third-party network vendors, so the quality of your integrations directly shapes how much of a customer’s operation can run on gaiia.

📽 What is your team working on?

Technically speaking, you will work in a serverless ecosystem of microservices deployed on AWS. gaiia is all-in on Typescript, with frontend, backend and infrastructure-as-code all leveraging Typescript.

As part of the Network squad, you will:

  • Build plug-and-play network monitoring and provisioning features by integrating with niche third-party tools, from OLT and CPE vendors to open-access network operators.
  • Build an incident management module that turns network alerts into a clear picture of who’s affected — and keeps their subscribers informed.
  • Model our customers’ physical networks: network sites, topology, and coverage areas.
  • Give operators a reliable source of truth for their IP address space.
  • Design a flexible inventory and fulfillment module that tracks every piece of equipment from the warehouse to the subscriber’s home.
  • Design, develop and deploy GraphQL APIs intended for both internal and external use.
  • Develop, in collaboration with talented designers, delightful interfaces.
🤝 What you’ll own as Team Lead
  • Lead, coach, and develop the developers on your squad through regular 1:1s, feedback, and formal evaluation.
  • Own the technical vision and architecture of the Network Monitoring and Inventory & Fulfillment modules.
  • Raise the bar on code quality, review standards, and engineering productivity within your squad.
  • Partner with your Product Manager on scope, sequencing, and capacity planning.
  • Collaborate with other squads, Customer Success, and the Implementation Team on network-heavy customer onboardings.
  • Participate in hiring and staffing decisions for your squad.
🎖️ Must-haves
  • You have at least five (5) years of experience in Typescript.
  • You have at least two (2) years of experience leading a team of developers.
  • You have experience with the React library.
  • You have experience with Node.js.
  • You have experience in DevOps and AWS services.
  • You are an advanced practitioner of agentic coding, with a track record of using AI to ship production-quality software.
  • You can deal with uncertainty and bring order to fuzzy challenges.
  • You have an outgoing and collaborative personality, eager to work with different stakeholders to solve complex problems.
  • You have a strong product mindset.
🪄 Nice-to-haves
  • You have experience with GraphQL.
  • You have knowledge of networking concepts.
  • You have familiarity with network & telecom technologies such as Calix, Nokia, Adtran, TP-Link, UISP, Tarana, NetBox, RADIUS.
  • You have an interest or expertise in functional programming.
💰 Salary

At gaiia, we have a transparent salary philosophy and a robust evaluation and compensation framework. It translates to a fair and impartial model where salaries are published internally, healthy discussions around compensation and performance can exist, and taboos are removed.

The salary range for this role is $130,000-$200,000.

🔆 Benefits
  • Flexible 25 days vacation.
  • Stock Options Plan.
  • Group Insurance.
  • Telemedicine.
  • Life and Health Spending Accounts.
  • Group Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP).
  • Flexible working hours & all-remote work.

We are an equal-opportunity employer committed to inclusivity and diversity. Our workplace is fully remote and boasts accessible technologies, ensuring all team members can thrive. Should you require accommodations due to a disability during the application process, please contact us at 581-996-9639 or [email protected] as per the Accessible Canada Act and human rights legislation. We’re here to support you every step of the way.
