About the Role

GlossGenius has been empowering independent entrepreneurs in the beauty and wellness space to pursue their dreams and successfully grow their businesses. As we continue to scale, we’re strengthening our App Platform team. This team is foundational to everything we build — from enabling developer velocity to ensuring mobile reliability at scale.

As an Engineering Manager of the App Platform team, you will be supporting the full spectrum of application development at GlossGenius. We span backend, frontend, and mobile stacks, not as owners of features but as enablers of scalable, consistent, and high-quality engineering. Our scope includes frameworks, shared services, tooling, and release infrastructure, making it clear that we are building the platform that product teams rely on to deliver value. This name reinforces our mission to provide the foundation that helps every team move faster, build better, and scale with confidence.

You will report to the VP of Engineering and can be based remotely in the San Francisco Bay Area OR hybrid (Tuesdays & Thursdays in-office) from our NYC headquarters.  

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead and develop a team of senior and staff engineers, understanding their skills and fostering their professional growth to achieve daily tasks and long-term career goals.
  • Work closely with product managers, designers, and other teams to define the long-term technical and product strategy and the necessary steps for its realization.
  • Prioritize, plan, and ensure team and cross-functional alignment to execute key initiatives and achieve business results.
  • Establish and implement effective engineering processes focused on quality and progress in key product initiatives.
  • Collaborate with recruiting to build and retain a high-performing engineering team by attracting top talent.

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years as a people manager.
  • Demonstrated success in collaborating with fellow EMs, PMs and designers,to develop plans, manage expectations, and deliver new products and features.
  • Strong business acumen and customer-centric approach, supported by data analytics skills.
  • Solid technical understanding, capable of guiding technical discussions.
  • Experience in recruiting and building high-performing teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

The starting base salary for this role in New York, California, and Washington is between $193,000 - $260,000 + target equity + benefits. The base salary offered is dependent upon many factors including skills, experience, location, and education. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.  Additionally, this role is currently eligible to participate in GlossGenius’s equity plan as well as a range of health & wellbeing, retirement savings, and other benefits within our total rewards offering.
