 Position Summary

The Finance & Accounting, Controller will play a critical role in the Company’s strategic financial leadership, preparing for IPO readiness initiatives, developing financial controls in anticipation of future Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance in a highly regulated environment, conversion from IFRS to GAAP accounting standards, transitioning to US-led financial audits, leading budgeting process and strengthening the Company’s financial planning and analysis (FP&A) capabilities.  This position will partner closely with stakeholders to oversee the financial strategy and planning, manage risk, and optimize financial operations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead finance team in preparation for and successful completion the company’s first PCAOB audit under US GAAP accounting standards.
  • Oversee preparation of accurate, timely financial reports in compliance with US GAAP and future SEC reporting requirements.  Manage quarterly and annual audits, tax filings, and board reporting.
  • Strengthen the company’s financial controls, policies, and procedures in anticipation of PCAOB audits, potential IPO, and future SOX compliance. Continuously monitor and improve control frameworks to safeguard assets, financial reporting integrity, and regulatory compliance.
  • Lead and manage all financial aspects of IPO readiness initiatives, including the development of IPO documentation, including supportive documentation for investor presentations.  Oversee financial due diligence, including working closely with external auditors, legal teams, and investment banks to ensure seamless execution of IPO-related initiatives.
  • Drive the financial planning process, including forecasting, budgeting, and long-term financial strategy. Provide insights and data reporting to the executive team to support decision-making for sustainable growth.
  • Oversee adherence to federal, state, and industry-specific financial regulations.  Implement risk management policies, systems, and strategies to minimize financial risk.
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing finance and accounting team.
  • Lead the Finance team to be tax compliant in different territories (including federal and states) and manage tax credit applications in different areas.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders.  Communicate financial strategies, risks, and results effectively.
  • Perform other duties as requested.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, advanced degree highly preferred.
  • Professional certification such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or Chartered Accountant (CA) is required.
  • 15+ years of financing/auditing experience – with at least 10 years in internal control and audit within the bioscience industry.
  • Big 4 firm experience highly preferred.
  • Extensive experience with IPO readiness and executions.
  • Experience in a US public company developing drug or biologic therapeutics, preferably as controller.
  • Expert knowledge and understanding of US GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, and regulatory compliance frameworks in a public company setting.
  • Proven track record in implementing and maintaining SOX-compliant controls and internal financial reporting systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire, and develop teams in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Passion for improving systems and processes.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Bilingual (English and Chinese) would be ideal.


Salary Range: 
$200,000 - $300,000
