The Role
We are looking for a Finance & Strategy Senior Analyst to join Block and help build Cash App, the fastest growing financial app in the world. Cash App's Financial Product Operations ("FinOps") team is responsible for managing the strategy, partnerships, and operations of the financial infrastructure that underpins Cash App's platform. The FinOps Finance & Strategy team's role is to partner with the FinOps team to design and execute financial strategies and commercial partnerships that enable innovative financial product development in a reliable and cost effective manner.
As a Senior Analyst working on the Cash App Finance & Strategy team, you will:

  • Collaborate with the FinOps team to craft financial strategies for Cash App, covering partnerships with card networks, card issuers, merchant acquirers, banking and lending partners, and other financial services and fintech companies
  • Support high-stakes negotiations with Cash App's largest existing and future financial partners
  • Build sophisticated financial models to evaluate trade-offs associated with key contract terms and partnership decisions
  • Execute ad-hoc analyses related to financial projections, business impact, and opportunity sizing
  • Present financial results and takeaways to internal leadership, with an emphasis on underlying drivers and shifts in trends
  • Report to the Finance & Strategy Director, Cash App (Payments Partnerships)


You Have

  • 3+ years of relevant professional experience, including strategic finance, investment banking, management consulting, or comparable experience (background in fintech preferred)
  • Strong interest in the payments industry
  • Ability to execute independently and engage with team members of all levels
  • Experience with commercial negotiations, specifically advising on deal structuring and commercial terms
  • Demonstrable financial modeling excellence with Excel and/or Google Sheets
  • Excellent business acumen and communication skills
  • Experience with, or enthusiasm to learn SQL
