The Financial Analyst, FP&A position in Ottawa will support a broad range of activities including creating operating budgets, capital budgets, new product development business cases, as well as having responsibility for specific accounting activities at month end and quarter end.  The role will require a high level of attention to detail, excellent interpersonal skills, insightful analyses, and the ability to mine, analyze and synthesis large amounts of data from a variety of different financial systems.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Financial Business Partner supporting the Platform business units.
  • Become an active participant in understanding the business behind the numbers. 
  • Own specific budgeting and forecasting process.
  • Analyze results, make inquires, anticipate questions, and become a trusted financial partner.
  • Manage month-end processes including results reporting and variance analysis.
  • Prepare segments of the monthly financial reporting packages for internal management review.
  • Lead and drive monthly financial review meetings with business partners, including executive management.
  • Prepare financial statement / select balance sheet flux analysis and provide detailed explanations for external auditors
  • Assist with other financial activities and special projects as requested

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years experience in a high-tech public company
  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, along with an Accounting designation (CPA)
  • Strong understanding of Financial and Management reporting frameworks of large, listed companies – Good understanding of US GAAP and IFRS principles
  • Excellent analytical, organization and communication (both verbal and written) skills
  • Ability to work independently and interact effectively with all levels of management
  • Ability to prepare meaningful management reports, interpret them and communicate them for senior management and drive actions to meet leadership goals and objectives
  • Passionate and excited to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing, team-focused environment
  • Able to prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities and manage deadlines
  • Focused on high quality output and possess strong attention to detail
  • Exhibit strong computer skills with advanced level Excel skills
  • Oracle, Hyperion, Tableau experience considered a strong asset
