Position Summary:  

The Financial Analyst is a key contributor in developing and driving value-added analytics to assist in the growth of the SUN DAY RED / TaylorMade business. This strategically minded and detail-oriented individual will identify opportunities using analytics and data management. They will partner with finance and business colleagues to develop accurate plans and forecasts. The role requires proficiency in financial analytics, investment analysis, and database management tools to identify trends and opportunities that add value to the business. This role involves managing P&L and working capital responsibilities while supporting a broad set of business partners from all functional areas throughout the company.

Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:

  • Support SUN DAY RED Canada business partners in all financial aspects of the business.
  • Develop and maintain financial models and analyses in support of strategic planning and decision making as well as financial performance relative to business plans.
  • Key contributor in developing Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and support 5-year strategic plans in conjunction with managers and business partners for assigned areas.
  • Prepare and present monthly management reporting. Thoroughly understands reporting, provides key analysis of financial results, and communicates risks/opportunities.
  • Analyze data and create financial models to provide comprehensive and accurate information to support and influence decisions and drive achievement of business goals.
  • Ownership over the month-end close process including preparation and posting of journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Analyze cost center detail and explain key variances, while collaborating with cost center owners to deliver key reporting and insight to allow them to manage to annual budget targets.
  • Prepare and submit capital authorization requests (CER’s) including ROI and NPV modelling to illustrate the financial impact of an asset procurement project.
  • Lead special projects within Finance to drive continual improvement, process efficiency or developing new capabilities.  Support projects and initiatives in various functional areas with financial planning, modelling, key performance indicators and projections.
  • Present project work, financial results, reporting and modelling to business partners and senior leaders.
  • Support team development through training and mentorship of new/junior members of the finance team.
  • Participate with teams to proactively identify and evaluate cost-saving opportunities.
  • Performs other related duties and assignments as required.

Knowledge and Skills Requirements:

  • Strong analytical (quantitative as well as qualitative) skills
  • Demonstrated ability to gather and analyze large amounts of data at a macro and micro level
  • Solid understanding of accounting, budgeting and financial statement principles, concepts, and analysis
  • Advanced ability in use of financial systems and data analytics/data visualization software (MS Office, PBCS, Oracle EBS, Business Objects, DOMO)
  • Proven ability to multi-task, work under pressure, and meet tight deadlines
  • Self-starter with the ability to streamline functions and passion to learn and grow
  • Confident in presentation skills; Ability to effectively present financial information from multiple sources in a concise and clear manner. Thrives in fast-paced, growing, rapidly changing environment
  • Strong ability to work independently and collaborate with multi-functional teams

Education, Work Experience, and Professional Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting
  • 2-5 years of relevant experience in a corporate FP&A environment
  • CPA designation is an asset to this role
  • Experience with golf, sporting goods manufacturer/retailer or similar consumer goods industry is a plus

Work Environment / Physical Requirements:

  • Normal office conditions with extensive computer and phone usage.
  • Ability to work extended hours as necessary.
  • Able to work efficiently and accurately in an atmosphere of frequent interruption.
  • Light physical effort equal to frequent lifting or moving of lightweight materials.
  • Frequent travel may be required.
