The Opportunity

The Corporate Finance group is evolving to meet the needs of our increasingly complex business, and we are seeking a Financial Analyst to join our dynamic team. Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Finance, GasCo, this role offers the opportunity to contribute to strategic financing decisions and capital markets transactions through full-spectrum deal support, relationship management with Joint Venture and banking partners, and preparation of executive and board-level materials. The successful candidate will collaborate across finance and related functions, support reporting and analytics, and gain exposure to a broad range of corporate finance activities. Placement at a different level or on an alternative career ladder may be considered based on qualifications.

What you’ll do

  • Conduct research and analysis on markets trends, relevant economic factors, and entity-specific needs to support financing decisions and strategy development

  • Support capital markets transaction in all aspects, including structuring, documentation, due diligence, financial modeling, coordination with internal and external stakeholders, and post-transaction reporting

  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with Joint Venture, investment and commercial banking partners

  • Assist with the preparation of Corporate Finance related Executive Leadership Team, Board of Directors, Management and Executive Committee materials, as well as presentations and analyses for bondholders, investor meetings, banking partners, and other lenders

  • Provide support for commercial and administrative aspects of Finance; interface with various functional areas including treasury, finance law, accounting, tax, corporate planning and regulatory

  • Support the development and maintenance of various reporting dashboards and databases

  • Cross-functional support across the broader Finance team as required

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of four years of related and progressive industry/business experience

  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics or equivalent

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • An MBA, CFA, and/or professional accounting designation or enrolment in such program is an asset

  • Treasury and/or finance experience

  • Self-starter who can work independently with limited guidance

  • Ability to work effectively under time constraints and manage multiple priorities/expectations

  • A general understanding of the pipeline and energy infrastructure business along with specific knowledge of TC Energy’s operations

  • Strong business aptitude and quantitative skills plus the ability to be innovative and capable of critical analysis and problem solving

  • A thorough understanding of the fundamental principles of economic and financial analysis and accounting

  • Advanced proficiency in the entire Microsoft Suite

  • Knowledge of capital markets and understanding of alternative financing instruments

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to maintain collaborative working relationships with external stakeholders and across functional groups within the company

  • Ability to build, maintain, and interpret complex financial models that support strategic decision-making and scenario analysis
