SUMMARY

The Financial Analyst is responsible for providing financial accounting and analysis to support the Controller and the Finance Group for the one of the divisions of the business (16 Distribution locations). Responsibilities encompass monthly financial close and reporting, assisting with monthly forecasts and annual budgets.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly reporting of results and business metrics
  • Prepare monthly variance analyses at the business unit level
  • Assist Controller with monthly sales forecast and annual business unit budgets including Target setting
  • Reconcile and review appropriateness of customer and supplier rebate accruals
  • Maintain monthly account reconciliations for specific Balance Sheet accounts, ensuring that all accounts are reconciled timely within the month end cycle, and that adjustments are made promptly
  • Prepare monthly entries, maintain, and perform analysis for various accounts
  • Performance of month-end closing activities related to general accounting
  • Support commodity taxes calculations and remittances
  • Respond to inquiries (internal and external) for financial information and analysis
  • Participate in various annual inventory counts
  • Other tasks as assigned by manager
  • Identify opportunities for improvements in processes and systems
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including Health and Safety, as applicable

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Requires University degree or college diploma in Accounting/Finance with a minimum of 3+ years of related work experience.
  • Working towards or possess Formal Accounting Designation (CPA)
  • Strong background and work experience in accounting and reporting
  • Minimum 2 years proficiency with ERP Accounting system in a large company setting
  • Advanced Excel skills including Pivot tables and data manipulation, macros
  • Strong exposure to databases and reporting tools, PowerBI
  • Demonstrated ability to succeed in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, utilizing effective time management
  • Strong communication, active listening and influencing skills
  • Proven ability to embrace and encourage teamwork

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The employee is required to stoop, kneel, or crouch.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office.  Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.  May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators.  Some travel (about 5-10%) including air travel or auto travel may be required.
