In this individual contributor role, the FP&A Analyst not only reports forecasts and variances but also uses that data to advise management on decisions such as how to improve performance, minimize risk or capture new opportunities from both within the company and within the external environment.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive financial analysis of companies across various industries.
- Evaluate financial statements, cash flow projections, and key performance metrics.
- Create and maintain detailed financial models.
- Monitor existing portfolio performance and identify potential risks.
- Prepare periodic portfolio reviews and risk assessments.
- Track industry trends and maintain sector knowledge.
Logistics & Operations Analytics:
- Monitor and analyze key logistics performance indicators (KPIs).
- Load efficiency and utilization rates.
- Monitor empty mile percentage.
- On-time delivery performance.
- Fleet maintenance costs and asset utilization.
- Fuel efficiency metrics.
- Track operational metrics by business segment (TL, LTL, Warehousing, Brokerage).
- Analyze profit margins and cost structures across different service lines.
- Monitor working capital metrics including DSO, DPO, and cash conversion cycle.
Reporting & Analysis:
- Prepare monthly management reporting packages including variance analysis and commentary.
- Develop quarterly board presentations and executive summaries.
- Generate customized reports for external stakeholders including banks and investors.
- Create and maintain dashboards for real-time business performance monitoring.
- Conduct competitive analysis and benchmark against industry peers.
- Support annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes.
- A minimum of 2+ years of relevant experience
- CPA (CMA, CGA or CA) in progress (at senior level of program is preferred)
- Education: College diploma in Business or related discipline. A university degree in finance, commerce or business administration is preferred;
- Advanced knowledge of MS Excel is mandatory (Pivot tables, V&H Lookup, simple Macros)
- Able to meet tight deadlines and work in fast-paced environment
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Able to work well independently and within team environment
- Strong business and financial acumen; able to link business requirements with financial objectives
