Position Summary:

We are seeking talented professionals to join our team in developing and optimizing advanced machine learning and AI systems.

As an GenAI Engineer, you will contribute across the full machine learning lifecycle, driving innovation in AI by bridging the gap between cutting-edge research and scalable production systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and build Retrieval-Augmented Generation pipelines

  • Lead the selection and integration of Foundation Models (LLMs/SLMs) via APIs or local deployment, ensuring optimal performance for specific domain tasks

  • Develop "Agentic" systems that allow AI to use tools, execute code, and perform multi-step reasoning to solve complex business problems.

  • Establish automated evaluation frameworks to measure model improvements objectively against business KPIs

  • Profile and optimize AI workflows for latency and resource efficiency, employing techniques like quantization, pruning, or prompt caching.

Qualifications:

  • 1-2+ years focused on LLM/GenAI applications; proven track record of building production-grade RAG systems or agentic AI applications

  • Strong understanding of LLM fundamentals, evaluating models based on task requirements, latency, cost, and accuracy constraints

  • Deep experience building RAG pipelines that include semantic similarities, chunking strategies, embedding models, retrieval methods (dense, sparse, hybrid), reranking, and context management

  • Proficiency with agentic frameworks or building custom agent orchestration, agentic patterns (ReAct, Plan-and-Execute, reflection, memory)

  • Expert-level prompt engineering skills

  • Expert-level use of coding agents for AI-SDLC

  • Strong programming skills

For applicants in the province of Ontario: Trend Micro Canada is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary range for this role is CAD $105,000-130,000. A candidate’s final compensation for this position will be determined by various factors to include, but not limited to relevant work experience, skills, and certifications.
