Why Join Stand: At Stand, you’ll help build a new class of global property protection. We use advanced physics and AI to model catastrophic risk at the asset level, then automate underwriting and mitigation before loss occurs. Insurance is simply the current delivery mechanism. The real product is a scalable risk engine, our Stand World Model.

We stay when traditional insurers exit. We model what others approximate. And we build systems that change outcomes, not just prices.
Our leadership team includes former successful founders and CEOs from Metromile, PolicyGenius, WePay, and HotelTonight, bringing deep experience in building and scaling high-growth companies.

Background: The property insurance industry is built to price loss after it happens. It relies on coarse proxies, backward-looking data, and manual processes, then accepts damage as unavoidable.

Stand takes a different approach. We simulate how real-world catastrophes affect individual properties, translate that into actionable decisions, and automate the business around it. The result is a platform that can underwrite what others can’t and operate with far less friction.

Role Summary: As our Head of Western Wildfire Insurance Product & Pricing, you will own the growth profitability, and strategic direction of Stand’s homeowners portfolio across wildfire-exposed markets in the western US. You will develop and execute state-level product, pricing, underwriting and exposure management strategies that enable sustainable growth in some of the country’s most complex catastrophe-risk environments.

This role is ideal for a strategic, analytical leader who thrives in ambiguity and enjoys building from the ground up. You’ll be expected to operate as both a business owner and a hands-on operator—setting strategy, digging into the data, driving filings, shaping product requirements, and partnering across teams to bring ideas to market. You are passionate about redefining homeowners insurance for climate-exposed regions.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Develop and launch new homeowners, condo, and dwelling fire products in catastrophe-exposed markets, including market strategy, rate and form filings, and business requirements for technology implementation.

  • Partner with Actuarial, Underwriting, and Distribution teams to design pricing, underwriting, and exposure management strategies that support growth and profitability objectives.

  • Monitor post-implementation portfolio performance to constantly evaluate the performance of the business and recommend actions to improve results.

  • Gather and synthesize market intelligence through competitor filings, distribution partner feedback, underwriting insights, and other market research to identify opportunities and emerging risks.

  • Lead state regulatory strategy and engagement, including rate, rule, and form filings and responses to regulatory inquiries.

  • Resolve complex cross-functional business challenges through data-driven analysis, stakeholder alignment, and execution leadership.

  • Support other initiatives as strategic opportunities dictate
