Job Responsibilities:

POSITION SUMMARY:

At Modatek Systems the purpose of the Health and Safety Coordinator is to initiate, implement, analyze, report – on, and oversee all safety programs for the company. The HSE Coordinator will help Modatek in achieve the goals and objectives set forth for ISO45001, IATF169R9, and OSHA Compliance. This position will also be responsible to assist the Environmental & Sustainability Specialist with job functions related to environmental; however, the primary focus is health and safety.
Salary Range: $60,000 - $72,000
Posting Reason: Replacement for vacant position

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Occupational Health and Safety degree/Diploma or Health Sciences related post secondary education

  • 2 years experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Sound knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety, Workers Compensation and Environmental legislation

  • 2 years of Health and Safety experience in an automotive manufacturing facility is an asset

  • Must have extensive knowledge and experience with air permitting, industrial hygiene testing, and regulatory compliance

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops and maintains the outside contractor safety program

  • Assists with all aspects of the Health and Safety Program

  • Identifies and implements opportunities for Health & Safety improvement

  • Supports the Occupational Health Nurse (OHN) with Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) claims management and wellness programs

  • Coordinates activities of the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) and Emergency Response Team (ERT)

  • Reports key performance indicators (KPIs) and safety statistics

  • Assists with action plans from the health and safety audits and safety related items on the Employee Opinion survey (EOS)

  • Reviews all accident/incident investigation reports and assists leadership in developing corrective actions

  • Administers safety talks, participates in Team Member (TM) meetings

  • Required to facilitate TM safety orientations

  • Maintains safety board updates throughout the plant

  • Oversees Respiratory Program (training, fit-testing, records)

  • Implements Hearing Conservation program 

  • Follows and complies with all Operational Procedures and Policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook, Quality and Environment programs (i.e., IATF16949, ISO14001)

  • Understands, promote and live by Magna’s philosophies and Employee Charter

  • Adheres to Modatek’s core values, integrity, respect, trust, honesty, fairness and loyalty

  • Follows Magna’s Code of Conduct and Ethics and related compliance policies.

  • Performs all duties in an environmentally responsible manner in accordance with the Modatek Systems Environmental Policy
