We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time HR Manager, Choices Market to join our People team in Surrey, BC.  

Reporting to the Director, HR Operations, you will be responsible for providing HR support to the Choices Market banner, consisting of 11 retail locations and a commissary. In this role, you will provide day-to-day HR support, coaching and guiding leadership teams across the organization. You will lead core generalist functions, including employee relations, performance management, recruitment, development, as well as contributing to larger organizational HR initiatives.
You will be responsible for:

  • Providing practical and timely HR support across the full employee lifecycle for all Choices Market locations.
  • Coaching and guiding leaders at all levels of the business on employee relations, conflict resolution, and performance management.
  • Leading and supporting recruitment, onboarding and training programs.
  • Improving and maintaining consistent HR processes across the banner.
  • Ensuring compliance with employment standards and internal policies.
  • Supporting workforce planning, engagement and retention strategies.
  • Supporting internal development and succession efforts by helping leaders identify and grow talent within their teams.
  • Various administrative functions, such as policy and procedure development and implementation, employee file maintenance, drafting and delivering communication memos, etc.
  • Managing investigations and the resolution of more complex employee relations issues, escalating when appropriate.
  • Compiling and analyzing HR metrics.
  • Partnering with payroll and operations teams to ensure smooth processes.
  • Providing practical HR guidance and support to operations teams. 
     

You have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience, including 2+ years in a leadership or advisory role.
  • A strong generalist background, with hands-on experience in employee relations, coaching, recruitment, training, performance management, and thorough knowledge of BC employment law and HR best practices.
  • A valid driver’s licence and vehicle with the ability to travel on an as needed basis.
  • Experience supporting retail, hospitality, or multi-site operations is an asset.
  • CPHR designation (or in progress) is an asset.

Compensation Details:

$83,394.00 - $104,243.00

The compensation offered for this position will take into consideration location, education, skills, experience and other factors.
