Job Summary - Under the direction of the Human Resources Manager, the HR Business Advisor is responsible for providing day-to-day HR support for internal clients within designated business units while also supporting Talent and Culture initiatives across the firm. HR Business Advisors collaborate with colleagues on the Talent and Culture Team and consult with firm leaders to maximize all aspects of people performance to deliver business objectives.
Essential Responsibilities:
Internal Consultant

  • Provides HR consultation for multiple business units, ensuring delivery and alignment of Talent and Culture products and services.
  • Acts as a collaborator, advisor and coach to leaders on matters related to talent management, associate relations, culture, organizational development, leadership, and workforce planning.
  • Provides associate relations coaching and counsel to ensure consistency of policy and practice to preserve the health of the firm/associate relationship.
  • Consults with leaders and HR managers to develop and execute change management and communication plans.


Business Knowledge

  • Develops a strong understanding and appreciation of the firm's organizational structure, culture and business objectives to develop and implement HR programs and processes.
  • Provides HR perspective and solutions to business challenges (i.e. organizational changes, acquisitions & divestitures, etc). Communicates insights on the Talent and Culture implications of business decisions, identifies problems affecting business strategy, and predicts potential obstacles to success.
  • Plays a critical role in coaching, advising and influencing the leadership of his or her clients to make informed business decisions and drive improved performance.
  • Helps leaders identify, prioritize and build organizational capabilities, structures and processes.


Talent and Performance Management

  • Provides advice and counsel to performance coaches and associates regarding performance related concerns, and talent development.
  • Participates in objective investigations related to workplace matters under the guidance of senior members of the field HR team.
  • Facilitates Leadership Review process


Organizational Development

  • Consults and influences business unit leadership on key organizational, cultural and management concerns. Understands how and when to drive intervention and critical change in the firm's processes.
  • Collaborates with other members of the Talent and Culture team to develop and implement, strategies, policies and practices in the areas of organizational effectiveness, workforce planning, associate relations, compensation, talent and performance management, change management, associate engagement and professional development.


Special Projects

  • Participates on special and cross-functional projects as needed. These projects could be business unit specific or firm-wide in nature.


Other

  • Performs or coordinates the tactical duties necessary to assist or administer various aspects of the firm's compensation and benefit, talent acquisition, organization development, and associate relations programs.
  • Exhibits the ability to follow standardized process templates, collaborates with HR Managers when unique circumstances arise.
  • Develops and maintains a high level of process and compliance knowledge and expertise.
  • Identifies and assesses business risk within the scope of their responsibilities and escalates when necessary.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Minimum Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or similar field
Certification and Licensing
Human Resource Certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP) preferred
Previous Experience
Minimum three years in human resources

  • Communication Skills: Effective communication is vital for providing HR consultation, responding to associate inquiries, and facilitating HR initiatives. This includes both verbal, presentation and written communication skills
  • Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills: The ability to identify problems that affect business strategy, predict potential obstacles to success, and provide HR perspective and solutions to business challenges.
  • Adaptability and Flexibility: Participating in special and cross-functional projects, which could be business unit-specific or firm-wide in nature, requires the ability to adapt and be flexible in various situations
  • Teamwork and Collaboration: The ability to work effectively with others towards a common goal, involving coordination, cooperation, active engagement, open communication, and the sharing of ideas and resources. This skill requires trust, respect, and a willingness to consider different perspectives, fostering a productive and harmonious work environment.
  • Project Management: The ability to plan, organize, and oversee projects to achieve specific goals within defined constraints, such as time, budget, and scope. This includes developing clear plans, timelines, and utilizing standardized tools and methodologies for effective project management. It also involves managing multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and timely completion of projects

Additional Details:
Wipfli values fair, transparent, and competitive compensation, considering each candidate's unique skills and experiences. The estimated base pay range for this role is $66,000 to $89,000, with offers typically not made at the maximum, allowing for future salary increases. The actual salary at the time of offer depends on business related factors like location, skills, experience, training/education, licensure, certifications, business needs, current associate pay, and relevant employment laws.
Individuals may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, subject to participation rules and based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual and Firm performance.
