WB Melback Corporation is a progressive company currently seeking an experienced Human Resources professional to join our team as a Human Resources Manager.

As a key member of the HR and management teams, this position will support the organization’s Human Resources needs while working closely with operational leadership, employees, third-party staffing agencies, and direct service providers. The successful candidate will play an important role in employee relations, HR programs, company culture, compliance, training, staffing coordination, and overall people management.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support operational leadership with employee relations matters by providing guidance and recommendations on best practices and achieving positive outcomes.
  • Take a lead role in strengthening and promoting a positive company culture.
  • Develop, maintain, and implement HR policies, programs, and strategies aligned with the company’s business needs.
  • Manage employee relations, address workplace concerns, and foster a positive and respectful work environment.
  • Support Human Resource Development initiatives, including employee training and development.
  • Liaise proactively with unions and participate as a member of the negotiating team during collective agreement renewals.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable employment, labour, and health and safety legislation.
  • Support talent acquisition by participating in workforce planning, recruitment, and interviews for key positions as required.
  • Manage relationships and coordinate with third-party staffing agencies and direct service providers to support the company’s staffing and operational requirements.
  • Work closely with staffing agencies and service providers to ensure staffing needs, onboarding requirements, documentation, and company expectations are communicated and maintained.
  • Monitor and address staffing or performance concerns involving third-party personnel and service providers as required.
  • Assist the Safety Manager with workplace injury and illness investigations and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to employees and management at all levels of the organization.
  • Assist with performance management, disciplinary matters, attendance management, and other HR-related processes.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and HR documentation.
  • Some travel may be required with this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • CHRP or CHRL designation would be considered an asset.
  • Minimum 3 years of progressive Human Resources experience, preferably in a unionized environment.
  • Previous supervisory or management experience is considered an asset.
  • Experience working with third-party staffing agencies, recruitment agencies, or external service providers is considered an asset.
  • Experience in the construction industry is considered an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of employee relations and applicable employment and labour legislation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a diverse team environment.
  • Experience with BambooHR, Indeed, and Microsoft Office Suite considered an asset.
  • Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Professional, approachable, and solutions-oriented with the ability to handle confidential and sensitive matters.
